A Day for Daddies!

Ahhhhhhh Fathers Day! It seems like we were just celebrating Mothers Day yesterday. This year's, same as last, we are going to be celebrating Fathers Day down in Valdez with my husband.

Last summer, it rained almost the whole time we were down there. And we were there quite a bit! This year I hope we get to see a little bit of sun while we are visiting. Speaking of sunshine, our late spring has truely been amazing! We have had a handful of days in the 70's with weeks in the 60's. But with this dry weather comes wildfires and I just saw an article yesterday that said there is 58 wildfires burning in the interior of Alaska. When I took my dogs out to go potty, you could smell it in the air. As much as I hate to say it, we need a few days of good rain. My grass is asking for rain too :) Anyway, on to my project I had quite the large list of cards to make for this holiday and I made each one different and special. I also had a few retirement cards, a retirement banner and a few birthday cards to make LOL!! I am still waiting for my crafty daughter to make her card but this is what I have so far.....

  1. I love you FD cards. On the first card what size did you cut your tags? Can you give directions on the fisherman's vest card? I just love all the details you added. TFS.

  5. This is what I put on FB for some instructions on thefishing vest card...No there is no Cricut cuts on the card. Yes it is a tri-fold. I used a 8x11 piece of carstock and then just trimed it down to the size I wanted and then folded it. It is about 7 in tall and 5 1/2 in wide. I had one of the flaps on front ...over lap the other by about a quarter of an inch as well. the pockets were just a few rectangles and then I folded down the tops by anout half an linch to make the pocket flap then I placed the little fishing items under the pocket flaps then glued them down. I used that Fun Fur yard for the fuzzy fishing lures. The bobber is just a white circle and a half of a red one glued together. The fishing hook was just a piece of silver sticker that i cut into the shape of a hook. I Googled 'Alaska fishing maps' for the tiny little map. Added 3 buttons and Sharpied in the button holes. Used a white gel pen for the faux stitching. Inked the edges.....LOl I think I coverd it all. If you have any more questions I would be happy to answer them :D Also my friend Mellisa did her own style and she offers a wonderful tutorial here http://createdbymissie.blogspot.com/2011/06/fishing-you-happy-fathers-day.html
