CHA Craft & Hobby Association Weekend in Chicago!

If you are a follower and/or frequent visitor of my blog, you might have caught some Future Cricut Cartridge Sneak Peeks from July 29. If you notice the video sneak peeks are no longer posted as Provocraft asked that they be removed due to the high quality images. There is concern that perhaps someone might use them to compete in the market place or gain a business advantage.

The video and images that were posted on my blog were not taken in the private circle room where they had them protected. The video that I recorded was a small glimpse of just a couple of the pages in the binders that were in the circle room to preview. They shared a brief sneak peak presentation with those attending CHA earlier that day in the Provocraft booth showing just a few pages from their future releases. They had not mentioned that no video or pictures were to be taken during the presentation and as they were in the front of the entry. I am sure that the general public could have seen from the door as well. I guess Provocraft under estimated the quality that is freely available in video and camera equipment today.

You can sign up to receive emails under ‘subscribe to’ in the right hand column or at http://feeds.feedburner.com/Sweetsassydiva

Also, you can become a follower by clicking on the ‘follow’ button just above the ‘subscribe to’ button in the right hand column.

I have more pictures and videos to post from CHA. It has been a very busy time and I hope you are enjoying all the information that I have gathered. I also have tried to answer a lot of the questions that you have asked me. I will be posting more answers as well. Stay tuned and I hope you are enjoying your weekend if not at the Supershow with whatever you chose to do this weekend. It truly was a blessing to meet so many people at CHA, Supershow and events in Chicago.

Cuddlebug Demo at CHA Chicago

Here is video of Maggie demostration of the new Cuddlebug at CHA Chicago today! Enjoy! :)

Jinger receives Serenade to Ode to Gypsy

I hope you enjoy this impromptu serenade to Jinger Adams, Provocraft Spokesperson, by Shannon Smith and Kaitlyn Hoverman at CHA in Chicago today.  I wonder if the song will make the top 10 Music charts.....what do you think?

Cricut Imagine Presentation

Jinger and Christy from Provocraft did a presentation at the cha in Chicago live with some overheads. It has some background noise but, she shows you some more info and details. It's one of the presentations that they did throughout the day at CHA.

Please share the link to my blog.

Be sure to check back as I am uploading video and have lots of pictures to share!

The video is split in two parts, please look further down for the second part

Imagine Presentation, Part 2

2nd and last part of the Imagine presentation at the CHA

Future Cricut Cartridge Sneak Peeks

They had some binders that were well guarded in a back room. They contained images of upcoming cartridges but, did not allow pictures or video to be taken.

The cricut circle members could go and look at the binders. There were some beautiful cartridges to come. These were for the traditional cricut cartridges like you now have. There was a route 66 cartridge that had 50's style images that would be perfect for your travels along the route. You can also use it for some great 50's themed ideas. Also, they will be comng out with more Disney that we love and some just hate to love. There were Monsters Inc and Alice in Wonderland that come to mind. Not all of the names were worked out and could change. They will have these binders at the Friday Circle Meet up in Chicago. If you are able to go, it is a great chance to meet others as well.

Also, if you are not a current circle member, you can join before the event and bring your receipt with you. So....come and meet everyone!

*Note:  the video has been removed.  Please refer to July 31 post.  Thank you for your understanding.

Cricut Imagine!

Here is a video of the New Cricut Imagine demo that I took at CHA yesterday morning.  Matt did an excellent job explaining the machine.  There is a lot of information here but, I will be checking on some more information today.  I hope you enjoy this I can say that it is even better in person!

AMAZING!!!!!

I saw the new Imagine machine at CHA and it is AMAZING!!! I have some video and pics that I need to upload.  I think it will answer a lot of your questions.

Matt providing a demo of the new Imagine

Is the ink regular inkjet ink or archivers ink?  It is an inkjet printer.  It takes a black cartridge and a color cartridge.  I asked if it is archival and the answer is yes.

Does the machine use ink to clean the heads?  I believe so.  It does the process to clean heads like other printers do.  It is an HP printer combined with a cricut.

Can you cut if you run out of ink?  You can use it just like a cricut as well.  Specifically to answer this one, I will have to ask.  I believe you can use it just like the expression without having to 'print' anything.

Can you print in black if you run out of color ink?  I would say yes as it is just like your inject printers.  I can print black when my color ink is out.

Will this machine in the future accept the larger mats? At this time it is only 12x12.  The mat will work in the cricut expression but, the cricut mat will not work in the new Imagine.  The reason is that the new mat has registration marks that the existing mat does not.  It is made from the same material as the current mat.

Can the gypsy be plugged into the machine or do you have to do all of the designing at the machine? The gypsy can be plugged into it.  There will be an update on September 13th and I have some ideas about it but, no one would confirm nor deny my thoughts. :)

Since the g can connect to the new machine, after you have designed on the g, can you take your g designs and use the color feature just as they did with the horse? I do not know if it will work if you create your own design since the machine appears to work with the cart images. Sometimes the g’s designs have multiple images so can it go through each design, color and print those designs?  I believe the September update will add a lot of features.  They did not share a lot about the updates in September.  I do know that you will be able to save what you did on the Imagine in your Gypsy so, you can do more of that design later.

What type of papers can this machine use or print on?  You can use white paper for the whole thing and design your own colors and such.  You can use paper like you use on the Expression now.  Although you wouldn't necessarily need paper other than white depending on your application.

Can the machine be hooked to the computer and can it cut from ds, images and fonts from our computer?  I do not think that they are allowing the abilities to interface with it like third party software.  You can use DS and the Gypsy with it.  I think there is more coming with this but, at this time I do not know if you can use a third party software program with it.  If you can do so, I am sure that it will void your warranty as they say with the expression now.

If I think of any more I will update this list.

Is it just white paper that it accepts?  No any paper just like the expresssion.  Although if you try to print an image on a colored paper it will affect the images.  What I mean is just like on a printer if you put in yellow paper you can't expect to print yellow on it to show up and your colors would be effected.

Will it accept any brand or type of paper? No, you can only buy Stampin' Up! paper from me! LOL  Sorry, I couldn't resist.  You can use any brand of paper that you currently use in the Expression.  The only thing is that it needs to be bendable because when it prints and cuts it curves around as it switches to the next process.

Some other things is that it will support existing cartridges plus, you can use new 12 new Cricut Imagine Art cartridges specifically for this new machine, plus 12 new Cricut Imagine Colors & Patterns cartridges

You can merge the cartridges as well.  You can take an existing cartridge and add colors and patterns to it mixing the Imagine Colors & Patterns cartidges.

Cricut Cake and Peek at Product Development

Even-Martha-Stewart-loves-Provo-Crafts-latest-Cricut-Cake and there is a peek at the product development.  could that be the Cricut Imagine?

What do you think?

I will be checking it out in less than a week!  Should I tweet or update my blog....or Facebook?  What do you want to see at CHA?  Will you be there?

Cricut Imagine

Well, I think I have an idea of what the photo app is for in the gypsy. It seems that the something new coming is the Cricut Imagine. It seems that Provo Craft and Novelty, Inc. filed for the 'Cricut Imagine' back in March of 2010. "CRICUT IMAGINE is Electronic cutting and printing machines for cutting and pirnting on paper, chipboard, plastic, and other materials in flat form, and accessories therefor; blades for electronic cutting machines."

Also, there are some scratch off tickets in the newer cricut cartridges for a chance to win the Cricut Imagine and a trip. I guess another reason to consider the rock princess and happy hauntings cartridges. I wonder what other cartridges will be considered.

I am so excited to see this at CHA. I will be updating my blog during CHA with pics and information from CHA.

What are you excited to see at CHA?

A must see!

Q&A

New CRICUT ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!

READ IT HERE!!!!  see below

I am so excited to see more about this at CHA in Chicago the end of the month.  I wonder if they will be unveiling something else as well.  Is this the surprise that they were talking about or only a diversion?  We had a lot of guesses about cartridges coming out and seems that we were on the right path.  It seems that Provocraft is heading down an exclusive road which we have seen with carts only available in certain retailers.  I wonder if this will be the new trend.  I hope they do not forget the international market because they seem to be creating less competition to purchase the carts which will keep the prices up but, this can also mean that less carts are sold.  I guess they have analyzed their economics and the laws of supply and demand.

Anyways....time will tell how this all works.

In addition to the Cricut Cake Martha Stewart Crafts Edition, there will also be three Cartridges with Martha Stewart Designs. The cartridges are: "All Occasions," "Elegant," and "Seasonal Cake Art."

Funny Story!

I was speaking with someone about the cricut. I asked them if they had a cricut and they said "oh yes! she continues to say but, I could use more 'dies'."

um.....I am thinking she does not have a cricut. I said oh? the cricut uses cartridges not individual dies. I threw her for a loop. I don't know what she has afterall. Without going to her home or having her check mine out I am guessing maybe it's......a die cut machine?  When I asked if it was a Sizzix, she didn't think it was that either.

i guess that i will need to show her a picture next time I see her of a Sizzix and a Cricut.

Has anyone else had any interesting crafting stories?

Book your flights today!

http://news.travel.aol.com/2010/07/08/airfares-on-sale-for-summer-and-fall/?ncid=webmail

quote:

You can grab sale airfares for travel this summer and fall, but you need to book today.

AirTran Airways, the low-cost carrier, got the ball rolling on the quick-sale, discounting all its destinations, with fares from $49 for specific routes. Other carriers including American, Delta and Southwest, quickly matched, putting fares on sale too. And Virgin America is doing a version of the sale as well.

What's particularly significant about the deals is AirTran, American and Delta are including the summer travel period, typically the strongest for the airlines. Fall sales, after the kids go back to school, are more common.

The carriers went into this summer with fares 10 to 14 percent higher than last year, according to industry watcher George Hobica of airfarewatchdog.com. But those higher fares haven't booked up.

"The airlines are crying uncle," Hobica says. "They are discounting slow days."

"The airlines know summer travel plans have already been made so they are trying to appeal to last-minute travelers. The summer is not what they hoped for," Hobica adds. "It's about unemployment. If people were working (the carriers) wouldn't be having a summer sale."

Most of the sale fares need to be booked by the end of the day today, with the lowest fares for travel on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Sundays, though there are deals for other days of the week as well.

The AirTran sale requires a 10-day advance purchase and is good for travel until Nov. 16. Sample one-way fares are Atlanta to Chicago (Midway) $69, Baltimore to Nassau (Bahamas) $99, Boston to Baltimore $49, Orlando to San Juan $74, and Philadelphia to Orlando $84.

Book today with Delta and you can snag a fare from $49 to $144 that's also good for travel through Nov. 16, though there is a blackout period from July 25-Aug. 1. A roundtrip purchase is required. Atlanta to Fort Lauderdale or Miami is priced from $138, Atlanta to Charlotte or Minneapolis to Milwaukee is from $98.

American's sale fares are from $69 to $244 each way and also need to be booked today. A 10-day advance purchase is required. Travel through Nov. 16. Sample sale routes are Atlanta to Chicago and Miami to Atlanta, from $138 roundtrip.

Southwest's sale covers Sept. 7 to Nov. 15, with one-way fares from $49 to $149. The sale fares are available every day except Friday and Saturday. Routes for the lowest fare include Boston to Baltimore, Denver to Albuquerque and Chicago to Cleveland, all from $49 each way.

Virgin America's sale fares have a longer booking window – you have until July 12 to make your purchase. The one-way fares are from $59, for San Francisco to Los Angeles. Fly cross country from New York to San Francisco from $149. The fares are good for travel Aug. 25 to Nov. 17. The fares are for travel Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

All the sale fares are for a limited number of seats

French Manor Thank You My Friend!

I used the French Manor cartridge for the Lion Head.  It is using Stampin' Up Regal Rose and Blushing Bride.  I made the shadow in Early Espresso for the lion and behind the other elements to make them pop!  Speaking of Pop! I used the Stampin' dimensionals to give it some dimension making the lion jump out from the card.  I used the tempting turquioise cardstock behind the lion and stamped it with some beautiful french script.  I also used the stamp En Francais from Stampin' Up on the left side of the card on the very vanilla cardstock in Early Espresso classic ink.

The text is written in French and translates to "Thank you my Friend".

You can now order these colors and products through my stampin' up! website at http://www.stampiton.stampinup.net/ or contact me to place your order today!

No LION about it!

This lion looks amazing in Stampin' Up!'s new colors!  I still am playing with it but, had to share how cool it is looking!  The mouth usually is cut out too but, thought it looked cool in blushing bride!  The background is Early Espresso and really highlights the cut!  No time to finish it now as it's time to get ready for the evening festivities!

Have a safe 4th of July!
