DIY Spot Remover

We went out to celebrate last night as a family.  We went to the Olive Garden and My little girl wanted to wear her white ensemble.  You know because that makes sense!

Are you thinking what I was thinking? Oh no! Crazy to wear white on a little girl at a place that excels at red (spaghetti) sauce and sauces with lots of fat to stain clothes! So, ok she had her heart set on white. I get that and I had it covered. Really I did! I had her take her white jacket off and explained how to be careful to not get spaghetti sauce on herself. Napkin given and talk complete. Food comes and you know the shuffle with tons of distractions with the kids and husband? Yes, lots of that going on.

You know where this is going right? So, before I could get situated and help her, she grabs the big ravioli to precede to shove it full on in her mouth. Nope! It didn't make it to her mouth as it flops of course red sauce side down! Planted not on the beautiful red flower but, yep you know it, right on a big spot of white!

So, I blot off as much of the sauce as I can at the restaurant. I'm sure this skirt has completed it's service because that isn't coming out!

After blotting:

Yes it was a big old stain and even getting it to look like this was fortunate!

So, we finished dinner and when we get home, it's time to work my magic.

I posted a while back about a laundry spot remover.

http://sweetsassydiva-gspot.blogspot.com/2014/12/diy-laundry-spot-remover.html?m=1

It helped in the past but, can it do anything for a garment that can be washed cold and really the label recommends dry cleaning. Well, I don't know about you but, dry cleaning? I think not esp on kid's clothing.

I grab my measuring spoons and mixing bowl with ingredients to begin the magic show! You know as this will be a true magical fear to salvage this one! I even thought of dying it all over with spaghetti sauce! Really, I didn't think this was going to happen.

I mixed up the ingredients, turned the skirt inside out and worked the liquid gently thru the stain. The thought is that by treating it reverse, it pushes the stain back out rather than deeper into the fabric. A few minutes later, it looked like this:

Ok it looks better but, still very visible. Deep breaths.

I put it into the laundry machine on a gentle cycle following the instructions on the garment label. I added a capful of thieves cleaner with woolite and said my peace.

I was flabbergasted! Is that a word? It took the stain out! It worked better than ever was my personal experience with any other pre-treatment stain remover product!

Check this out!

Envelope Punch Board

The envelope punch board by We R Memory Keepers is a great way to make odd sized envelopes or coordinating envelopes. For a traditional A2 card, 4.5x5.5 inches, you start with a 8 1/8 square piece of paper. The score line would begin at 3 3/4 on the upper left.

Then, punch the paper and score using the enclosed tool. You will then rotate the paper 90 degrees and repeat until all 4 sides are complete.

Them, using the reverse punch, round all the 4 corners.

Gold along the scored lines and I chose to put the pattern inside.

Glue the two side pieces and gold creating the envelope.

You can purchase envelope glue or just use any adhesive to secure the envelope.

It's a great tool to use up your paper stacks to coordinate with your cards or use your ugly paper.

If you are making 3.5x3.5 cards, you can use 6x6 paper stacks without trimming. It also works with an 8x8 paper stack for 3.5x6 cards. Regardless of your card size, you can create a coordinating card.

The size chart is printed right on the tool.

A great use for your paper stash.

It's on sale now at Blitsy! Have you discovered Blitsy yet? They have great deals on craft supplies with discounts up to 70% off! Click on my link below for an invite to become a member and check out their great deals!

Chocolate Peppermint Crinkle Cookies

I got some raves on these babies! They're crazy tasty and you can either add young living peppermint or orange essential oils.  Make sure you're not skimping on the quality and only use Young Living essential oils!

Also, check the bottle because Young Living states if it's dietary and many other brands are not GRAS aka digestible!

Now, on to the recipe for Chocolate Peppermint Crinkle Cookies!

Ingredients

  • 1 box brownie mix
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 8 drops of Young Living Peppermint Essential Oils (or 8 drops of Young Living Orange Essential Oils)
  • 1 cup Nestle Toll House SemiSweet Chocolate Chips
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar (reserve for coating dough balls)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Place brownie mix, flour, eggs, butter and peppermint oil in glass mixing bowl. Stir until blended. (Dough will be uber stiff.) Fold in chocolate chips.
  3. Place powdered sugar in separate bowl. For each cookie, scoop 1 rounded tablespoon dough and place in powdered sugar.  Note: I use those little Mellon ball type scoopers that look like an ice cream scoop.  Roll dough gently into balls, coating thoroughly with powdered sugar.
Place 2 inches apart on to a pizza stone or on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake 11-13 minutes, or until they are just barely set (do not over bake). You don't want hard cookies like biscotti to dip in your coffee or hot chocolate! Or maybe you do? Carefully, move them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
  5. Store in a covered container. If they get too dry and hard, put a piece of bread in the container to soften overnight.

Peppermint is an oil that is included in the Premium Starter Kit or available in a single 15 ml bottle through me.

Capture the Moment

I have to tell you that, while taking pictures at my son's concert at school as we scrapbookers do to capture the moment, mind you i was hopping from chair to chair with what looked like a private session of musical chairs to get the right angle, as we do as photographers, I was rockin it with Mark! Mark is what I call my camera. Anyway, I was getting proficient at finding a chair and knowing the lay of the land too. Ok so, I thought! I didn't even need to look for the chair.  A little angel aka student, moved a chair without me knowing and I went from standing to butt on the ground! Needless to say, deep relief roll-on is helping my sore behind and back from the eloquent butt landing!
