Stretching into Spring!

Hey Ladies- Welcome back to Sweet Sassy Diva's weekly challenge for us DT ladies! This week we were all asked to make a Spring card using the "Stretch Your Imagination" cartridge.
Recipe:
Imagine More Cards (for colors and patterns)
Stretch Your Imagination
2-Way Glue Pen
Stickles (Lime Green and Star Dust)
Glossy Accents
Liquid Pearls (Petal Pink)
White Card stock

I must admit that I have been going a little crazy with the Glossy Accents, but I LOVE it!
I started by cutting the entire card at 6 inches while using this soft pink pattern from the Imagine cartridge. I then cut the layers for the "spring", "flower pedals" and "leaves" at 4 inches. It all fit perfectly over the initial card shape, except the "S" for what ever reason the "S" was the only letter not to fit! But that is what I love about my Cricut, I am always trying to figure out something new!
Then came all the fun stuff! I added the "star dust" stickles to the word "spring", the "lime green" for the leaves, Glossy Accents for the tulip petals and finally I "made" a pearl boarder with the "Liquid Pearls". I just recently found a new trick for this If you flick the bottom of your paper it will help you lose the point that "Liquid Pearls" sometimes gives, it makes so much sense I felt kinda funny when the lady told me about it!

Cute Boots are Essential!

While many people's grass is turning green and flowers are growing we are still looking out the window to snow and brown trees! One thing I love about the spring time around here is when the trees start budding all at once and you see a green haze in the trees along the road side. We also have 5 seasons here. Summer, fall, winter break-up and spring. Break-up is a time when the snow melts and the ice breaks up on the rivers and everything is a sloppy, wet, muddy mess!! The dogs feet are muddy. Your feet are muddy. The cars are muddy. Everything is m-u-d-d-y muddy! So I can say spring is almost here, but not yet. We have to go through break-up first. The great thing about the muddy mess is cute mud boots! I myself own a super cute pair of mud boots that I just love wearing during break-up. It makes all the mess so much easier to handle when you are wearing cute boots :D :D So I was having a really hard time getting in the spring spirit for this challenge but, I did it.
We were asked to use the Stretch Your Imagination Cricut cartridge and pick an image on pages 62-69. I tried really hard to but just was not feeling inspired from those pages so, I still stuck with the cartridge just picked a diff image.
I laid it all out on my Gypsy and then onto my mat and cut them out.

Layered up my card

Assembled my layered pieces for my card (the sky and grass were done with green and blue ink)
Started to glue them all together

And added a little pink glitter to the mix!

Enjoying!

Here are my little ones enjoying some cards Mommy made.

And my son is giving a sneak peek of my next card! I think she was analyzing how I did it! :)

My husband collaborated with me on this card. We wanted to do a man card.

He chose a blue card base as it's his favorite color. We used the Cricut Imagine cartridge Best Friends.

We cut the image in layers at 4".
For instructions on cutting and assembling the easel card, click here!

The ovals are a sizzix die and were cut using coordinating cardstock. They match the dog house roof and dog perfectly!

We were looking for the perfect sentiment and selected "Hot Dog".

Cute as a Bug!

This week for the Sweet Sassy Diva DT Challenge I was asked to pick the challenge. I decided that the challenge should be to use Stretch Your Imagination cartridge and pastel colors. But the real challenge was to use any of the Spring Images on pages 62- 69.
So I decided to use the caterpilar on page 66. Here is the card that I made:
I used Pink,  yellow, green and olive green cardstock. The patterned paper is from K & Co. and then the stamps are Buggy Puns by My Pink Stamper.
Here is how I set the Gypsy up and the paper on the mat.

Celebrate!

Hi! This is Jen from http://3catsandabug.blogspot.com/. This week Bobbi Jo asked her DT to make easel cards and I wanted to join in on the fun! I like making Easel cards for something different. I start with a 4.25 X 11 inch base. I fold the card in half and crease it, then I take the top half and fold that in half and crease that also.

From there I cut out 2 different color papers. In this case the purple is cut @ 5.5 X 4.25 and 4.25 X 3. I then cut the patterned paper @ 5.25 X 4 and 4 X 2.75.

The largest piece gets glued down to the back side of top folded piece. I know it sounds confusing, but when you get started making one and look at the picture it will make sense. (If not, let me know and I'll try to explain it better!)  Or click here to see a video on the card SweetSassyDiva made!

To decorate the outside of the card, I used Sweethearts and cut the champagne glasses @ 4. I topped off the bow with a purple gem. I cut celebrate out from the elegant cakes cartridge @ 1. On the bottom layer I put a row of purple gems along the top patterned paper to hold the card upright.

To finish off the card, I cut a a piece of banana paper @ 5.25 X 4 and inked the edges so there would be a place to write any sentiment and sign the card.

What's Crack'n'?

Hi Everyone
This week for the Sweet Sassy Diva's DT challenge we were asked to make an Easel card. I wasn't sure what this was at first but I found this great tutorial at Split Coast Stampers website. The tutorial is really wonderful, but I think I have a hearing problem because at first I just could not figure out the whole flap thing, but after watching the video 3 times and taking my card apart once I finally got it! WOOHOO!
I am so ready for Spring to come but it is still snowing in my neck of the woods. So to get in the Spring mood I made this cute Chick card.
And this is the cool part, you can make it stand up like an easel to showcase the card.
Here is what I used to make the card:
Yellow and Pink
Patterned paper from my stash
PK Critter faces
Simply Charmed- Love this cart! It is a must have...
I cut the chick out at 2.75" and then wrote the saying since I couldn't find a stamp with what I wanted.
I colored in the beak and eyes with markers.

A Little Birdie Told Me!

Here is an easel card that I put together using the Best Friends Cricut Imagine cartridge together with my BFF!  He was also the one behind the video camera.  Isn't he the sweetest?! I think so too!

Here is a screen shot of it on the Imagine.  The images were cut at 4" wide.

This is how it looks folded when you give it to someone or mail it.

I also stamped the inside of the card. I used the Pink by Design stamp set called "Fly away with me".

Which do you like better?

Under Accessories do you like the Ribbon Box or The ScrapMaBob?  I think I like them both so, I thought that I would ask here.

Although with all the ribbon that I have I would probably need to order a lot of the Ribbon Boxes.

Easel Card Challenge!

I was really excited to get working on this weeks project. I had bought 2 new DCWV stacks and just needed a reason to start to use them. I went with Mariposa and Botanicals because they are something I don't normally go for so I figured I would step out of my 'box' (ok its not really a box, box its more like an octagon or maybe a rhombus or maybe it is a box but just with a few dents in it, but what ever it was I was stepping out or actually more like tripping and fall on the way out HAHAHHA..ooops back to the project) ok where was I oh ok yah going outside the box...and I dont normally take the time to cut images out of the paper but for this project I was going all out! I got into my stash of Core'dinations paper and paired it with my DCWV and the results were perfect!!
Cout out a 6x6 card and folded up my easel card and then glued the front panel on
Placed my paper on my mat after configuring the layout on my Gypsy

Laid out my layers

Started to glue it all together using Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots and Zig 2-way
