Watermelon!

Fabulous image from Art Threads

With summer almost over for us Alaskans it was nice to do something in celebration of this short season. I was inspired to crate this project from the June issue of Martha Stewart Living. With vintage being my new style this fit in perfectlyas these were popular in the 50's. Crocheting is something I enjoy doing when I need a craft to do that does not require alot of stuff. All you need is a hook and some yarn! I found this pattern on the Arts Thread blog. I liked hers because of the wavy edge. I think she did a fantastic job of doing a tutorial so Ill let her explain it....

She was also inspired by Martha :D I also have a bonus for you! Its not often I share my super secret recipes but this is one of my favorite side dishes to take to picnics or BBQ's and I always get compliments on it. So here is my recipe for

Oriental Chicken Salad

2 cooked chicken breasts, shredded
1 medium head of cabbage chopped into strips
1 pack of chicken Top Ramen, smash the dry noodles and save seasoning pack
1 cup of sunflower seeds
8 green onions, chopped

Mix the chicken, cabbage, ramen, sunflower seeds and green onions in a large bowl.

In a small bowl mix;

1/4 cup of vegtable oil
1/4 cup of rice vinigar
1/4 cup of water
4 tablespoons of sugar
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
Pack of ramen seasoning

Pour seasoning mix over the cabbage mix and toss. Let sit for at least 4 hours. Enjoy!
