Speechless!

Well, we just bought new glasses as you recall the saga.

This is what he looked like just this morning.

Here is a picture of my son as he just arrived home.

I have no clue what happened! I did not send him to school this way. I expect my child to come back in the condition I send them in! I know too much to ask!?

I have a note "he fell on the playground and scraped his face. His glasses were also scratched. I cleaned the scrapes off but could not put band aids on. He was very brave even though he said it hurt."

Thankfully, he did not break anything but, he has quite the bump on the head. Shouldn't a call home be made? Moreover this is not a mere fall. What happened? I'll never know.

I'm off to find out how much that will cost.

Oh my! Poor thing. In our school district it is a policy that if the child receives any injury to the head , then the parent has to be notified with a phone call. I have made that phone call as a volunteer in the office. I am also a preschool director and state licensing requires that any head injury - the parent has to be notified within 15 minutes. I will admit sometimes I feel pretty silly making that phone call fr a little bump, but the parent needs to know in case it was actually a really hard hit and they start showing symptoms of a concussion. Some kids are accident prone and the parents laugh when I call bc they know why. But your son's face is way more than just a bump and definitely deserved a call. I would all the office to find out what the policy is for parent notification. What did he say happened?

Oh man, the poor little guy! I would be quite upset too if I didn't get a call. I would have wanted to bring him home earlier in the day right after it happened! I hope you find out what happened and hope all is okay with him.

You must call the school and demand why they did not contact you when he fell. Obviously is it more than just a small scratch. His face is all scraped up and swollen. Sending a uninformative note home is insulting. I'd be angry too!

Oh my!!! I too would have expected a phone call. I would DEFINITELY be at the school letting them know that when your child gets hurt to this degree.. you EXPECT a phone call and leave it up to YOU whether or not he goes home!! NO WAY that is acceptable. Kids fall and get bruises DAILY.. I get it, but to THIS degree.. NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! He is such a CUTIE tho.. mommy kisses make everything better!!!

Hugs,
Tanya

Thank you all for your understanding and support. We ordered new glasses for him and i guess another week before they are in.

Well, I had a talk with the school nurse and we discussed notification of injuries that my son receives at school... in this instance and hopefully not future occurrences but, you know they do get hurt. I told her I expected a call to all numbers on the card with a message until they reach one of us when his glasses are destroyed like that and he looks like he went through a war. She also kept calling him the wrong name. Ok not Rolf but, ralphie. I did let her know there is no e. :sigh:

The joys of sending your little ones out in the world. Oh and I still maintained my diet and did not go crazy with stress eating. Have a great day!

OMGOODNESS.... poor little guy... I would have expected a call as well... BUT I do have a question for you... Did you just put his new glasses on him before school? OR did he wear them for a couple of days first? The reason I ask this is.... When I got my glasses many, many, many years ago... I believe the first pair I was 9 yrs. old and I was told back then to expect my eyes to adjust to them... that Objects may appear closer than they are.... Just like our side mirrors on our cars... :o) And I thought the Dr. was crazy at first until I put them on and walked out the door... I almost fell of a curb wearing my new glasses and then I did fall going up some stairs shortly after I got home with the said glasses.... Even now as an adult.... When I get a new pair.... they still need to adjust to my eyes... and Now I get headaches as well until my eyes are adjusted.... Sooo... I was just wondering how long you sweet little guy was wearing these glasses and then went to school and got hurt.... It's just an observation of course due to my own experiences.... I thought maybe that's why this happen to him.... I sure hope he's ok and that the swelling has gone down some... HUGS!
