Love Bug!

Hello all!!  This is Carissa!!  SweetSassyDiva's design team is making something other than a card or layout with our Cricut machines!!  I received Create a Critter for Christmas and have been wanting to try it out since then!!  I went to Michael's the other day and saw these wooden frames perfect for embellishing!!  I came home and looked at the handbook and picked out the Ladybug!!  She is super cute and I love her LoveBug sentiment!!  Here is my first decoration for Valentine's Day!!

I created a cut file on my Gypsy for this project.  This is my first time saving, downloading and sharing from my Gypsy!!  Love learning new things!!!
Recipe:
Wooden frame
Create a Critter Cricut Cartridge
Glitter Cardstock
Pink, Light Pink, Black, Red and Green cardstock
Chestnut Roan Colorbox Chalk Ink
Mod Podge
Adhesive
3-D Foam Adhesive
File
This is my mat ready to cut the flowers..  I cut lots of flowers and layered as much as possible.  I'm sorry but I didn't take a picture of the flowers after they were cut.  Oops!!!

This is my mat ready to cut the ladybug and the sentiment...  So adorable!!  I cut the LoveBug sentiment twice using different colors so I could cut the word 'bug' to add another color layer.

I inked the frame first to see if I liked it but decided to cover it with glittered cardstock!  I used Mod Podge but had to improvise and use a plastic knife instead of a foam brush.  Even coating over all then apply the paper.  I put a heavy basket on top and let it sit for a while to dry.

Ink the edges of all the pieces, arrange the pieces on the frame and glue.  I used Quick-Dry Adhesive to glue everything together and to attach the smaller flowers to the frame.  Then used 3-D Dots to attach everything else to the frame.

For a copy of the gypsy cut file, you will find it in the files section, or click here!  It is labeled Valentine Frame 1/26/2011.

Have a great week!!

Valentine Party Favors!

Hello all!!  This is Carissa!!  Yay for party favors!!  This week we are making Valentine's Party items!!

Recipe:
Kate's Kitchen Cricut Imagine Art Cartridge
White Cardstock
Chestnut Roan Colorbox Chalk Ink
Adhesive
1 Inch Circle Punch
Scotch Tape
Curling Ribbon
The hearts are from the stock images on the Imagine flood filled with patterns from Kate's Kitchen.  I used four different sizes and left two of the hearts blank to keep them white.

The hearts are cut at 3.0, 2.5, 2.0 and 1.5.  I used the auto-fill feature after choosing the patterns and sizes.

Here they are after they were printed and cut out.

Inking the edges of your projects makes a huge difference!!  I love Chestnut Roan!!

I wanted to be able to tie the hearts around a snack or package of candy.  I punched out some 1 inch circles and attached curling ribbon to the circle.
I used Scotch tape to attach the ribbon to the circle but then used the adhesive to attach the circle to the heart.
The snacks that I used are Mini Rice Crispy Treats.  They are super good!!
Curl the ribbon and you are finished!!  Looks so pretty!!!  I'll be making several more of these for my daughter's Valentine's Party next month!!

Bundle of Joy!

Hello all!! This is Carissa!! My favorite cartridge right now is Nursery Tales!! I love to use pop dots on the layers!! Super easy!! I cannot wait until more Imagine cartridges are released!

My project is a card set for my neighbor. She is due to have her baby this week!! I love how everything matches! Card, envelope and tags!

Recipe:

Imagine Art Cartridge Nursery Tales

3 sheets of white cardstock

Envelope - 4 3/4 x 6 1/2

3-D Dots

Adhesive

Ribbon

Stamp: Pink by Design Scripted Year

Chestnut Roan Colorbox Chalk Ink

Scoring tool or scoreboard

The envelope was lightly taped closed just in case.

The bear is a layer from the main card image using the print only feature at 1.0

Love how it turned out!! I will definitely be doing this more often!!

For the card base start of with a piece of cardstock 9 x 6 1/4. Then score at 4 1/2.

The main image was cut at 4.0, added the layers plus another bear for the inside of the card. I didn't use the grass layer but had to print it because I wanted the clouds. The two squares are the mats for the sentiment. I used the square from the stock images and flood filled with a solid and a pattern. The light green cut at 2.5 and the light blue cut at 2.8. The tag was also cut at 4.0 and a bear layer added.

This is the background for the front of the card. Square from the stock images flood filled with pattern cut at 6.0. I trimmed it down to 6 x 4 3/8 to fit on the card.

This square is from the stock images flood filled with pattern cut at 5.0 for the inside of the card. Trimmed down to 5 x 4 to fit. I also cut a scrap of white cardstock to 4 1/2 x 3 3/4 to write your message.

Here is the inside of the card.

I used adhesive on the ribbon to attach to the front of the card and then added a piece of tape to both ends of the ribbon to keep in place.

The sentiment was stamped on the light green mat and then cut to 1 x 1 3/4. The light blue mat was cut to 1 1/4 x 2 1/8. 3D dots were used on the sentiment and the layers.

The tag for the gift bag was cut at 4.0 along with the layer of the bear. I had another piece of dark patterned cardstock and cut it out to use as a mat. Just to see how it would look. You can see both in the picture at the top of the post.

Enjoy!! Have a great week!!

It is extended to Monday.  Be sure to enter for the drawing!

Hello all!!  This is Carissa!  This week at SweetSassyDiva we are making something recycled, repurposed or a project made with a new item received for Christmas...  My project is a 6 most important things to do list that will be kept on a clipboard.  One of my goals this year is to balance my time more!!  I've started planning our meals again, keeping a list of cleaning chores to do everyday and now this list will help keep me on track even more!  Everything will be on this clipboard!!  Every night before bed I will put the six things that are at the top of the list that must get done the following day.  After they are completed then I will turn the tag over.
My new item received for Christmas is the Fabulous Finds Cricut Cartridge!!  I wish I could say that I used the flood fill feature on my Imagine to make this project but I'm not updated yet with the most recent update.  I used four sheets of white cardstock and a small scrap of another white cardstock.  Sweet!!
Recipe:
Fabulous Finds Cricut Cartridge
Best Friends Imagine Art Cartridge
White Cardstock
Scoring tool
Crop-a-Dile or Eyelet setter
Eyelets
Ribbon
Adhesive
Chestnut Roan Colorbox Chalk Ink
Gypsy - Optional
(I used the Gypsy because my Imagine is not updated yet)

The red and yellow sheets are double sided!  The image from the Fabulous Finds cartridge needed a front and back...
For the four sheets of white cardstock I used the Print Paper feature with the Best Friends Art Cartridge.  I love the clouds!!  So dreamy!!!

This image is found on page 211 on the Fabulous Finds Cricut Cartridge.  I cut six of the at 3 inches.
I cut three at a time so I have a couple of nice scraps from this paper!
Here they are ready to get scored on my Martha Stewart scoreboard!
I wanted to make it a little flatter so I folded the flaps around the back.  It will be hidden anyway!!
I cut the inserts from the printed blue cardstock at 2 1/4 x 3 3/4.  Rounded the top two corners to match the pocket.  Then used my Crop-a-Dile to punch a hole and add an eyelet for the ribbon.
I used lots of glue to make sure that my pocket will lay flat.  All sides and one strip down the center.
I printed a couple of images at the end to complete my project.  This is where the scraps of white cardstock were used.  The flowers are cut at 0.8 and 1.0 inches.  The bird was cut at 0.7 inches.  I used the layer feature so I could delete the images that I didn't want to use.  Also, I used the true size feature for both.  The edges were inked with Chestnut Roan chalk ink.
Have a great week!!

Best Friends Cricut Imagine Mini

Hello all!!  This is Carissa!!  Stocking stuffers are so much fun!!  My daughter loves to draw so this was perfect for her!  I also got the chance to use my new YourStory Photo!!  I made little books with about 10-14 pages in them...
Recipe:
Cardstock from stash
White cardstock
Strips of YourStory glue
YourStory Photo
Cut the cardstock to 3 x 6 and score at 2 5/8, 2 7/8, 3 1/8 and 3 3/8.  Cut the strip of YourStory glue to 2 3/4 inches long and then I cut the strip in half lengthwise to make it skinnier.  For the inside pages make 2 3/4 inch squares and score at 1/4 to make it easier to turn the pages.  It really helps!!
I decorated the cover with an image from the Best Friends Cricut Imagine Art Cartridge.  Looks super cute!!
Have a great week!!!  Happy Holidays!!!

Imagine Lori's Garden Thank You Card!

Hello all!! This is Carissa!!  This week I have a Thank You card made from the Cricut Imagine cartridge Lori's Garden!  I really love how it turned out!!  I saw the square design a couple of different places and really wanted to try it.  Just a little note...  My color ink says it is low!  Still looks great so I'm going to see how long it lasts.  I have another ink cartridge on standby though!!

Recipe:
Cricut Imagine Lori's Garden Art Cartridge
Sentiment cut at 1.9
Pattern - Small square cut at 1.8
Yellow pattern - Larger square cut at 1.9
Solid background - Square cut at 5.2 (This was cut down to fit the card better)
White cardstock
Ribbon
3D foam squares
Chestnut Roan Colorbox Chalk Ink

This is how my mat was arranged.  I started with larger sizes but used fit to page so I could only use one sheet of white paper!!

I decided that I wanted another layer after it was put together...  There would be room to add the layered piece and still only use one sheet of paper!!  I inked all of the edges and layered the sentiment and butterfly with 3D foam squares!!  The butterfly is my favorite!!

Have a great week!!
