Hi, it's Angie. This week on Sweetsassydiva we were challenged with using diamonds in our projects. (It's April's birthstone.) I chose to do another layout since I've been trying to catch up my scrapbooking. I will get there eventually.
I started with a rainbow of diamonds. I cut them at 1 in from George and Basic shapes. I also used the Once Upon a Princess cartridge and cut out 2 of the princess dolls, her outfit (including crown and royal sceptor), 2 diamond gem shapes (all at 3 in) I then cut out the title "Look at you SHINE" from George at 1 and 1.5 in. I made a rainbow banner across my pages using the diamond shapes.
I then took the dolls and glitzed them up with green and gold stickles and self stick gems.
I then used my heat embosser and shined up the letters. I embossed them with gold embossing powder. I also embossed the edges of my gem shape as well. Then it was just a matter of putting it altogether.
I added mats for 2 4x6 pics and 2 4x4 pics or journals. Now all I need to do is add my pics of my many princesses. I hope you enjoy.

Iris love a Diamond!
Wow April is ending and May is here. Before we know it Summer will be here. This week at Sweet Sassy Diva the challenge for the Design Team is to use a Diamond shape or gem. I decided to use an idea I had for awhile but hadn't tried. Last year, I took some monthly classes at my local LSS to learn Iris Folding. I have always thought it was so pretty and the teacher is also a Cricut fan so she designs many of her cards with Cricut shapes. Now I don't expect anyone to learn how to Iris Fold by reading my tutorial. I am just trying to introduce it to you and if you are interested encourage you to get a book or take a class.
The last class we had at the LSS the teacher showed us how to make our own Iris Folding designs.
So I decided for the challenge to practice the things I learned and make a card with the ring from page 56 of Once Upon a Princess. For the ring I cut the shape in the middle of a 5 x 7 rectangle and then used the ring portion of the ring.
Here is the completed card
The stamp "A Cut Above the rest " is from a huge set of sentiment stamps I got at HSN.
Here is what the card and shape looks like cut out with the ring below it.
The ring is cut out of silver shiny paper.
Next you trace the shape out regular paper.
There are then patterns that are common to Iris Folding. There are a lot of great books on Iris Folding that have not only completed patterns but shape designs you can use.
I lay the triangle pattern under the diamond tracing and copy the lines. I then number the spaces starting at the right and going around and around till I get to the center.
My pattern is then placed below the card face down and taped together so it doesn't slide.
I then cut different strips of paper to fold over and tape to design. The triangle design used 3 papers.
This is how you start.
As you continue the pages overlap and you tape each down.
At the end you tape a hologram piece of paper in the center.
I use pieces cut from gift bags or paper from the 99 cent store.
I tape down any lose ends.
This is what it looks like when it is turned over and I finished the card.
I hope you found this interesting . It really is a fun technique.
I hope you will come back this week and see what all the designers at Sweet Sassy Diva create with the diamond shape challenge. Happy Craftin!

Dress more than the Turkey!
Hello everyone, Mindy from Grammies Craft Room with a quick project for your Thanksgiving table.
The base for this place card is a tag from Once Upon a Princess. In my Gypsy, I placed two tags, sized at 3.5" , lined the up so one was directly on top of the other one - the lines will turn yellow - then using the arrows, moved one tag up so the 2 just overlap. Hit the weld button and you have a shaped tag .
I cut a strip 3/4" x 3 ", folded the ends and attached to the inside. This will help keep the tag open.... I hope :)
For the cornucopia, I again layed it out on the Gypsy - it's from Celebrate With a Flourish - and cut all the layers at 2". I cut a small piece of patterned paper to put in where the leaves were going to be.I did some embossing and used a few glitter gel pens to add some zip.
Supplies :
Cricut Once Upon A Princess
Cricut Celebrate With Flourish
Scraps of card stock
Glitter Gel Pens
Remember to check out SweetSassyDiva all week for lots of great Thanksgiving projects !

All around Fall!
I absolutely love fall colors. I could decorate my entire house in these colors for year round. They are so warm and inviting to me. So I really enjoyed making this wreath for my fall decorations.
All of my paper came from DCWV (mainly the new fall cardstock stack) and some from the neutral stack. I cut the paper into strips that were 4x8 pieces. I pinched the bottom sides together and glued them (could have stapled them but didn't try that one).
After I had them all glued and dried I inked the edges so there were no white ends on the larger end.
Then I glued the ends together to make a circle. This took a while because of letting it dry as I went. (patience was much needed and I lack it greatly)
Once I completed the circle and it was dry, I cut a 6' circle for the center of my wreath. I lined it with leaves cut from doodlecharms at 1' in red, orange and green. I then tied a bow (still a skill in developement) used floral wire to attach it thru the center of the circle and there it is my fall wreath.
*recipe*
dcwv cardstock
cricut cartridges doodlecharms, george and basic shapes
ribbon
lots of glue
TONS of PATIENCE
I have a few others that I made in the past week or so, and I thought I would add them as well. If you happened to see my birthday banner you saw all of the fairy princesses and butterflies that I had cut out for my daughter's birthday. I kept some for scrapbooking and still had some left over. I didn't want to just throw them away so I made a "memory wreath" for her. This is a great project for kids (considering the first time I made one I was in elementary school) Christmas is coming so this would be a fun indoor cold yucky day project....
I used a wire hanger, bent into a circle shape, the table cloth that I bought for the birthday party (cheap plastic one) and her decorations with some of the ribbon from the gifts. The good thing is nothing has to be cut straight just into strips. Tie the strips to the hanger, squish them together as tight as you would like until it is completely full and then glue on the rest....and there it is a simple wreath. (I used white trash bags in elementary school with plastic poinsettas)
Last bit and I'm gone....I've been busy ;) This one is the circle of friends that was made for my daughter's birthday party as well. I wanted something for each girl to be able to take with them, so it wasn't a "wreath" so to speak but could easily be made into one with wooden dows, or, styrofoam, anything you want. This is basically a 6' rosette with a fairy in the center (cut from once upon a princess) the banner (cut from blackletter) is upside down and the girls names were glittered in them. The birthday girl takes center stage. I asked for favorite colors before the party, or room colors, so that each one was tailored for each guest. I hope you enjoy.

Fairy Princess!
This week at sweetsassydiva we were challenged with a Disney theme. I happened to also be having a little girl's birthday this week. So I combined them and made a "fairy princess" banner, which is what was requested. I did not use any Disney cartridges for this, however the princess part can be tailored to fit any Disney Princess, according to color, and such.
So here we go....
I started with pastel cardstock for the crown's....I laid it out on my gypsy...this is one project that took a lot of layers on it.
I used the Once Upon a Princess Cartridge for the majority of my cuts. After cutting out the crowns (shift lock, font) I used scraps of different colored paper on the back to "color in" the openings...I then glittered the letters with a clear glitter to add some shine, and then decorated the crown with a bit of glitter for the gems. (If time would have allowed I would have cut the gem figure out which is also on the Once Upon a Princess Cartridge)
The fairies were cut in different colors, and their flags wave in different directions so that they can carry the banner for me.
I didn't want to do the same ribbon tie up banner that I usually do, I wanted something a bit different. I decided since it was fairies, and they live in the trees, that leaves and vines would be better. I used my gypsy and welded some vines together that were on the Calligraphy Cartridge. I used some flowers from Accent Essentials, and butterflies from Once Upon a Princess.
Then I could put the girls to work carrying the banner....the finished banner turned out really cute.

First I cut two crown fronts and 2 crown backs at 4 inches(OUAP) and all pieces did come out of one 12x12 sheet. I cut the "2011" at 2 inches (PSB) and the stars at 1 inch. The front and back peice fit together easily I didnt even need any type of adhesive.

Pretty in Pink and Introductions....
Weren't those projects wonderful yesterday! I have some more introductions today of SweetSassyDiva Designers. They are sharing some wonderful projects with us! I hope you are all as excited as I am and I know they are too. Please share your love with them.
Pretty in Pink Layout and Introducing....
Jamie! I a mommy to one 9 month old baby girl, Jayden, wife to one wonderful man, Adam and we have a rott puppy, Sweetums! I am originally from WA state and currently live in Cheyenne, WY. I own my own photography business and have a studio in my basement where I love to take pictures of my baby. I've been scrapbooking for over 5 years and just recently (within the last 3 months) discovered the wonderful world of card making. All of my free time goes to my paper crafting! I love to scrap! Aside from paper crafts and photography, I love music, Disney everything, watching movies, traveling, animals, history, science, games, swimming, and all sorts of other stuff! I am very grateful to be a member of the SweetSassyDiva Design Team and I cannot wait to share my projects and make new friends!
Recipe:
1 - 12x12 pink diamond patterned paper (mine is from the Paper Studio "the basics" 180 paper pack)
1 - 12x12 light pink with red heart pattered paper (mine is from Me & My Big Ideas "value paper pad")
1 - 8.5x11 light pink sheet of cardstock (from Recollections cardstock "Butterfly Wings")
1 - 8.5x11 medium pink sheet of cardstock (from Recollections cardstock "Butterfly Wings")
Once Upon A Princess (Cricut cartridge)
Accent Essentials (Cricut cartridge)
Tulle - mine was white and approx. 5x2 inches (any color would work)
1 - needle
1 - piece of thread, mine was white (any color would work) approx. 5 inches long
1 - light pink ink pad
pink glitter
ATG gun (any adhesive you use will work"
Zig glue pen (fine tip)
foam double sided tape
Instructions:
Pink & red heart pattered paper:
Using Once Upon A Princess: cut out the letters "P, P, I" at 1.5 inches and the letters "r, e, t, t, y, i, n, n, k" at 1 inch (to spell out "Pretty In Pink"
Using Accent Essentials: cut out "Accent #48" at 6.5 inches and "Accent #47" at 2.5 inches
Light pink cardstock:
Using Once Upon A Princess: cut out "Dancer-s" at 5 inches
Using Accent Essentials: cut "Accent #48" at 2 inches, "Accent #47" at 2.5 inches, "Accent #47s" at 2 inches, and "Accent #36" at 1 3/4 inches
Medium pink cardstock:
Using Once Upon A Princess: cut out "Dancer Layer" at 5 inches
Using Accent Essentials: cut out "Accent #48" at 6.5 inches
Then, glue down the letters where you want them using Zig glue. Add some pink ink to some of the letters and any of the other light pink cuts you want. I placed the pink & red heart paper "Accent 48" frame around the "Accent 48" medium pink cut. And flip flopped the light pink and pink heart frame and inside of the "Accent 47" cuts and inked the edges of the light pink "Accent 47s" cut and placed it in the middle of the other two. I glued down the light pink heart (cut "Accent #36") outline in the top right corner of the page and glued down the light pink ballerina slippers (from cut "Dancer-s") in the middle of the heart.
I glued down the medium pink tutu onto the ballerina dress and the little bows on the tops of the straps for the ballerina dress (this is not the way it's done in the book I guess the bows are for the little girls hair but I thought it added to the dress). I then took the tulle 5inches x 2 inches and cut it into 3 strips. Once I had the 3 strips cut I threaded the white thread through the tulle in large distances to gather the tulle at the top. Once I finished this I tied off the thread and placed glue on the medium pink tutu area and adhered the tulle to the tutu. I then put a little bit of light pink ink on the the white tulle tutu to add some color.
I glued down the outline for the light pink "Accent #48" cut and put some double sided foam tape on the back of the ballerina dress and placed it in the middle of the "Accent #48" frame. To finish off the layout I ran some Zig glue over the letters "P i n k" and poured pink glitter over it and dumped off the excess.
Hope you enjoy my layout!
