Happy Halloween!

Here's a fun idea to decorate the side panels of your front door.  Using Cricut Cartridge Pumpkin Carvings, just design it on your gypsy, ccr or ds. Hide the outside square and size them to fit into 6x12 matts.  Actually, I just placed them on my gypsy mat and hid the outside squares and placed 4 on a 12x12 piece of cardstock.  Then, I took my paper trimmer and cut it down the middle making a 6x12 piece of paper at the end.

Here is a close up.

This could also be cut out of vinyl but, regular cardstock works wonderful.

Have a Happy Halloween and be safe!

Happy Birthday!

Recipe:

Cricut Cartridge Artiste CTMH (Close to my Heart)
Cricut Expression 2 (or any cricut machine)
My Mind's Eye Totally Girl paper stack
Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration So Happy for You 123220
Stampin' Up! punches: Punch Word Window and Punch Modern Label
Stampin' Up! cardstock in whisper white and Regals Always Artichoke
Stampin' Up! brown ink
Ribbon
Pop dots
liquid adhesive
glue dot

On page 44 of the Cricut Cartridge Artiste, I cut the Accent 3 at 3.75" using the green dotted paper from the My Mind's Eye Totally Girl paper stack.  I also cut the Always Artichoke cardstock base and assembled it gluing the two pieces together.

Be sure to cut them out at 3.75" each as well.  They are programmed to cut out to the correct size as long as you select 3.75" on all the elements and keep the Real Dial Size OFF.

I cut a piece of white 8.5" x 11" paper in half and scored it down the middle of both pieces.  This gives you the card base.

I cut the green 8.5" x 11" cardstock into 4 pieces with a little taken off two edges to give it a slight white border that will show around the card when glued to the card base.

I also took another paper from the My Mind's Eye Totally Girl paper stack and cut it a little smaller than the green cardstock base.  This gives it an edge that will peek through.  Be sure to ink all your pieces for an additional pop.

Glue all the pieces together with your favorite adhesive.

Place pop dots around the bottom side of the green cardstock to give it dimension to the card.  Also, pop dots were used under the green cuts of the Accent 3.

Using the scraps from the cuts, I used the So Happy for You stamps set and stamped "Happy" and "Birthday" in brown ink.  I punched it out using the Stampin' Up! punch 'Punch Word Window'.  I then, used the Punch Modern Label and used the reverse side of the paper to get the white.  Use the brown ink and a small sponge dauber or other small sponge to ink all the edges.  I glued the two pieces together with some liquid adhesive and with pop dots placed it on top of the cricut cuts.

Inside you can stamp a favorite sentiment but, in this case I just used it to write a personal thank you note.

The final touch is a golden ribbon bow which I attached using a glue dot.

I challenge you to make a Birthday card as well.  Please share your creation on facebook.

Manly Thank you!

I recently recieved the Cricut cartridge Artiste and decided to use it for a manly thank you card.

Recipe:

Cricut Cartridge Artiste
My Mind's Eye Totally Girl paper stack
Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration So Happy for You 123220
Stampin' Up! punches: Punch Word Window and Punch Modern Label
The Twinery twin in Honeydew
Stampin' Up! cardstock in whisper white and Regals Always Artichoke
Sheer white ribbon
Stampin' Up! journaling marker in black
Stampin' Up! brown ink
Pop dots
liquid adhesive

On page 75 of the Cricut Cartridge Artiste, I cut the Father's Day card at 4.25" using the green dotted paper from the My Mind's Eye Totally Girl paper stack.  I assemled the shirt and glued the two pieces together rather than using it as a card.

Using the Stampin' Up! journaling marker, I created faux stitches on the pocket.

I added a folded pocket square using a small piece of sheer white ribbon folded.  I adhered it with a pop dot to give it dimension and some liquid adhesive to give it more staying power.

The tie is the reverse of the paper stack which was a white.  If your paper stack was double sided, you could have a different pattern or quite easily cut it out on a different paper all together as it is a separate key.  Be sure to cut them out at 4.25" each as well.  They are programmed to cut out to the correct size as long as you select 4.25" on all the elements.

I cut a piece of 8.5" x 11" paper in half and scored it down the middle of both pieces.  This gives you the card base.

I cut the green 8.5" x 11" cardstock into 4 pieces with a little taken off two edges to give it a slight white border that will show around the card when glued to the card base.

To the green paper, I took one and wound it three times with the Honeydew twine from The Twinery.  I adhered it with a pop dot to keep it taught. Place pop dots around the bottom side of the green cardstock to give it dimension to the card.

The shirt was glued down with liquid adhesive.

Using the scraps from the shirt cuts, I used the So Happy for You stamps set and stamped 'thanks' in brown ink.  I punched it out using the Stampin' Up! punch 'Punch Word Window'.  I then, used the Punch Modern Label and used the reverse side of the paper to get the white.  Use the brown ink and a small sponge dauber or other small sponge to ink all the edges.  I glued the two pieces together with some liquid adhesive and with pop dots placed it on top of the twine.

Inside you can stamp a favorite sentiment but, in this case I just used it to write a personal thank you note.

I challenge you to make a manly thank you card as well.  Please share your creation on facebook.

Welcome to the Original Disney Pixar Blog Hop! A special shout out to Shawn and Ellen for organizing and making this hop outstanding!

Did you hear that there is a Grand Prize for one lucky Winner?  Yes there is!  The grand prize is a ScrapN Easel-Ette! I have the ScrapNEasel and I absolutely love it!

If you arrived here from Kim, then you are in the right spot!  If you arrived here first, after you see mine then head over to Shawn because you do not want to miss any of the projects.

I created a banner with the Mike's from the Cricut cartridge Disney/Pixar - Best of Pixar.  A special shout out to my friend Missy for cutting them for me.  <3 They were cut out at 3 1/2 inches.

I used some stampin up colored cardstock and patterned cardstock from cosmo cricket.

For the banner, I used the cricut cartridge All Mixed up.  I also, used it to cut some circles on Mike's background.

I picked up some green tule to string up the banner.

Doesn't Mike just look so cool! When you got to Disney World, be sure to check out his show.

I'd like to say that the spikes were cut on the cricut but, I actually hand cut it.

Be sure to enter for your chance to win the grand prize of a ScrapN Easel-Ette!  Thanks Marlo for the donation!

If you love to craft like I do, be sure to check out Blitsy often for amazing deals!  I love saving on crafting items and it helps the budget or at least gets you more for your money. <3

Thank you my Friend!

I used the French Manor cartridge for the Lion Head.  It is using Stampin' Up Regal Rose and Blushing Bride.  I made the shadow in Early Espresso for the lion and behind the other elements to make them pop!  Speaking of Pop! I used pop dots to give it some dimension making the lion jump out from the card.  I used the tempting turquioise cardstock behind the lion and stamped it with some beautiful french script.  I also used the stamp En Francais from Stampin' Up on the left side of the card on the very vanilla cardstock in Early Espresso classic ink.

The text is written in French and translates to "Thank you my Friend".

I invite you to link this post from your blog and hope that if you are not following my blog yet that you do.  I also have a blog button that I would be honored if you would add it to your blog.  Please stop by frequently and I find positive comments fuel the creative juices to post more frequently.

Thank You!

I made this Thank You card by welding images from Gypsy Wanderings, Gypsy Font and Tags, Bags, Boxes and more.  I outlined the front of the card by replacing the blade housing with the cricut markers.  It gives more emphasis on the butterfly, flower and Thank you.  In addition, I used Graphic 45 paper, Dew Drops, ribbon and a beautiful antique button pre-WWII.  There is so much detail in the button that just is not captured in the picture.  It has 4 delicate pressed flowers in the center which you cannot begin to even see in this photo.

I used the Color Box Paintbox Ocean breeze in a chalk ink to help the card pop.

Inside the card is a beautiful coordinating print.  You can leave it or add a coordinating solid cardstock to write your personalized message.  The pictures do not do this justice!  It looks beautiful in hand!

I did need to use the little dental pick to get the small little pieces out.  Some of them wanted to stay for the delivery of the message.  I do not blame them because it makes it hard with all its beauty to send this thank you to another home.

I hope that this inspires you to create something unique and all you! And as always, please comment on this post and let me know how this inspires you.

Three Kings Day!

Please be sure to go to Gaby at http://www.gabycreates.com/ after you finish here for the El Dia De Los Reyes Magos Blog Hop today!
Well, I see some different stories online about the Epiphany or in Germany they call it Heilige Drei Koenige. As Gaby explained the custom of her family on this day and about presents rather than Christmas, I thought that I would share the customs of this day in Germany.

Children dress up as the Three Kings and go from house to house caroling on the Epiphany in Germany on the 6th of January. The children are known as Sternsinger which translates to Star singers. They take a pole with them that has a star on top. They also take blessed chalk with them to write the initials of the Three Kings— K.M.B. for Kaspar, Melchior, and Balthasar with the year over the house door to protect the household from danger and keep evil spirits out.

I can say living abroad it is a bit confusing when you keep having the door bell rung and you have no idea what is going on. I thought they were pranking the house. The children are going around and looking for sweets like the custom of Halloween in the states. They have the added joy of writing on the house.  They write the first two digits of the year "+K+M+B" and the last two digits of the year. The initials are of the three kings.

The children do not receive presents on this day and observe Christmas for three days in Germany. They are learning more about Santa Claus as the world seems to be shrinking with the internet and other media. They do know of Weihnachtsmann (Father Christmas). Mostly they celebrate the Christkindt translated to Christ child. The Christkindt brings presents on the 24th of December in the afternoon during the customary family afternoon walk.

While touring Europe, we visited Koeln and the Cathedral there has the remains of the three kings. It is in a golden chest within the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe. The following pictures were taken by me during our visit. We also enjoyed the Christmas market surrounding the Cathedral. It truly is magnificient. You can read more about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrine_of_the_Three_Kings

The pictures and video does not even get close to the awe of the shrine nor that of the Cathedral.

Here are the blog hop participants:

I used this cartridge as well as a few others.

Here is my layout that I created using Hannah Montana, Christmas Village and Winter Frolic.

Most of it was using the Christmas Village cartridge but, I used the frame from Hannah Montana and the title comes from Winter Frolic.  This could be used to place a family picture for Christmas, or the Three Kings Day.  I am going to place a picture that I took in Germany of the Three Kings Shrine.

As you can see below, the cuts on the Christmas Village were designed to be propped up.  I used the hide contour to remove the base piece.  Also, I used a small rectangle from George & Basic Shapes or you could use one of the other Gypsy cartridges to weld together with the image to eliminate the cut line.

After you weld them, it will show in red what will cut.  As you can see the little rectangles at the base are in gray while the rest of the outline is in red.  Only the red of the camel and king will cut.  Also, I placed the manger on the mat to cut out the same color as the camel.

The word 'THREE' will cut out the same color as the king.  I also hid the crown as I wanted that to cut in another color.

I originally layed out the title to be between the star and the photo mat.  However, when I was putting it all together it was too much right next to the photo.  As soon as I add the picture, I will make the final determination where I will place the title.  For now, it looked better on the lower left of the layout.

I also used the Chomas Creations Glitter mini gel pens and holder on the camel. You can order a set from http://amychomas.blogspot.com/ She also has a really cool engraving kit. I really love how easy it is to use. I also have a video in my archives using it on another project.

Instead of cutting out the details on the camel, I used the gel pens.  I did this by using my hide contour to hide all lines except those for the blanket.  Then, I went back doing the reverse only cutting out the outside lines.

As you can see I just swapped the housing between the two steps.

To finish the detail on the camel, I used the gel pen and colored in the lines.

The title comes from the Winter Frolic cartridge.

The frame for the photo is from the Hannah Montana cartridge.

I did not know about the customs of the Three Kings Day that Gaby and some countries celebrate.  I had only learned about Germany's custom while living in Europe.  Traditionally in the States growing up our family kept our Christmas tree and decorations up until the 7th after the Three Kings Day.

I hope you have a Blessed Three Kings Day!

Joy!

I made this card using the scraps from cutting out some tags and some paper in my stash. You know I have to say that paper does matter because these cards looked way different in Tim Holtz or Graphic 45 paper....just sayin'

I think that looking back on 2011, I must say that the most memorable was earning that cruise to the caribbean.  I enjoyed spending time with my darling husband and celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary.

Here is a picture that we took on the Cricut Cruise.  This is my Spring Break layout!

Pardon the picture is a bit faded and is used more for placement. I am having it printed but, used a print off of my injet for placement and it seems the ink cartridge needs to be replaced.

Quick Tag and Gift Idea!

Now, I thought this would be a great gift to bring for any Holiday parties or even into the New Year as you go visiting friends and relatives. I have seen others skipping away into Valentines already the day after Christmas.  I just think it's too soon and find that this is a wonderful item even for January.  I mean really Winter is still here at least in our area for what seems another six months. OK maybe I exaggerate a bit.  I can say that January is getting into the coldest time for here.  I do hope that you enjoy the video tutorial and for the new people that just received a cricut, I try to also have a few golden nuggets of information for you as well. If you missed yesterday's tutorial showing you how to set up the Cricut Expression 2 for cutting the ornament and Joy cuts, please click here! to view them.

Jen's Birthday Blog Hop!

Welcome to Jen's Birthday Blog Hop!

If you came here from Becky, you are in the right spot.  If you missed the beginning of the hop, be sure to stop by Jen and wish her a happy birthday!

I thought I would make a birthday card using the ctmh art philosophy cricut cartridge bundle. For the paper, I used my refections: dreamin' and solid chocolate.

I am using my Cricut Expression 2 Anniversary Edition for this project but, you could use any cricut or Imagine for this project.

I started with Page 60 and cut tag4 layer only...

5.25" and select the Aa button as shown below. This will make it precisely 5.25".

Page 60 cut gift box and layer in two sizes (2.25" and 3.25").

The coordinating stamp set can be used on the 2.25" cut.

For the sentiment, I cut page 56 shape4 and layer at 1.25"

Using the "Happy Birthday!" stamp in the bundle, I used versamark and heat embossed in black.

I chose my denim twine from the Twinery to further embellish the card.

All of this on a beautiful green card base.

I wish Jen the happiest of birthdays and it has been an honor to participate with all the other bloggers to celebrate and bring cheer to Jen today!
