Hi my crafty friends, this is Brenda from Friends Craftin' with Friends. This week the design team at Sweet Sassy Diva was asked to use hens or chicks on a project. I was planning on starting a flower album with my plants and flowers in it. I have been wanting the plant called "hen and chicks" for a while now and planned on getting some, taking pics and doing a lo. Well that didn't happen. Never went and got any plants, etc...So I had to come up with another idea and to be quite frank, this is all I could think of. lol Not much, but will do I suppose. After I was all said and done, I thought about doing a lo of one of my grand-daughters being a mother hen to a sibling. Yeah, then I get an idea!! lol Ok, for my card I started out with a 5 x 7 base. Planned out my card on my Gypsy. Ok don't look now, but I forgot to weld my vine!! Ack!! Oh well I made it work out. lol
Then I cut and assembled my pieces. And then arranged them on my card. My sentiment is computer generated and cut out with SU word window and the modern label punch. The carts that I used are Martha Steward Seasonal Cake, Creat-a-Critter and Simply Charmed.
Not the most orginal card, but still think it is pretty cute. lol I know the rest of the design team will wow you with their creations, so sit back, relax and enjoy the week!

Design Team Challenge: Blue Theme!
Good Morning!
This is Jen from 3 Cats and a Bug. This week at Sweetsassydiva's we are using the color blue in a lay out. Sticking to only one color was a bit more of a challenge than I expected it to be. I did use the color white on the two ornaments and for the picture placers, although those will come off when I put my pictures on.
Both of the ornaments were cut from the Christmas Solutions cartridge. The long one was cut at 5 and the round one at 3.5. I didn't care for the way the center turned out on the round one, so I "fixed" it with stickles. The dark blue base paper I used has a high shine to it, but doesn't show up when laying flat.

From the MS Seasonal cartridge I welded two of the snow borders in Design Studio at 2. I saved the cutouts from the border and sprayed half of them with Memories Mist, Blue Hawaiian.

I added most of the snowflakes to my page using pop dots.

The word Christmas was cut at 2.25. The cats were playing on my table and lost the dot of the "i", so I used stickles instead.

For the frame for my pictures, I used a 6.5 square and in design studio I welded a shape on each side from the Storybook cartridge at 4.25.

Family Reunion!
Good Morning! This is Jen from 3 Cats and a Bug
The theme this week for SweetSassyDiva's; DT is Picnic, which comes at a great time for me! Every year my family has a reunion at the end of July at Fox Lake. My Grandparents bought a place there about 40 years ago, so my family has been going there for a long time. My parents bought my Grandparents place just before they died and my husband and I bought a place two doors down about 5 years ago. It's on a small island, so not only is there fishing, but there's also a lot of wildlife to see, hence the animals in my LO. (I wasn't trying to "say" anything about my family! LOL)
I used 11 different carts for this project. The background paper is My Mind's Eye, the Penny Lane collection. The photo mats were left overs, so I'm not sure what collection they are from. I always use Core'dination paper, I think it cuts the best in my expression. I added glossy accents to the firefly's wings, black enamel accents to the watermelon and the grill, white enamel accents to the frogs and liquid pearls to the deer. All the cuts were just regular cuts, so I didn't take pictures of each step.

Country Life: the banner cut @ 3, the white letters were also the banner, but I used hide contour on the banner to get just the letters in the correct size without too much work. The "July 2011" was cut @ 2.

MS Seasonal: the grass was cut @ 1 and welded together in Design Studio
Walk in my Garden: the caterpillar was cut @ 1
Animal Kingdom: the frogs (3) were cut @ 1
Kates ABC's: the bunny was cut @ 2.5 and flipped in DS
Doodlecharms: the fireflies were cut @ 1.5
Paper Dolls for Everyday: the grill was cut @ 8.25. The utensils were cut @ 4
Indie Art: the birds were cut @ 2
A Childs Year: the watermelon was cut @ 1
Cindy Loo: the deer was cut @ 4 and the squirrel was cut @ 3
