It's Your Day!

Hi all my crafty friends, Brenda here from Friends Craftin with Friends.  This week at Sweet Sassy Diva we were ask to make anything with fathers in mind.  So I made a Father's day card for my DS to give to his dad.  The other 5 boys will have to come up with their own card. lol  Ok first off I grabbed my Gypsy girl and over at She's a Sassy Lady, Sheila has a great video tutorial on how to make tri fold cards like on Just A Note that came pre-installed on the E2. Go over to Sheila's blog and watch the tutorial, it is 4 videos because she walks you through it step by step!!  So I made my base using George and Basic Shapes and then welded my die cuts that I wanted to use.  Here are what my card layout and layers look like on my Gypsy girl.

I proceeded to cut out my base and score it.  Here I had a little boo boo, but I am still going to use the card.  I didn't have it on the mat correctly and lost part of the end of the card.  Oh well, I wasn't going to trash it, but just make the best out of it.  Here is what it looks like.

Next I cut all my layers out and assembled them.  Then attached them to my card base.  Here is the beer mug with the foam.  I used Smiley Cards for this die.  I wanted a little dimension to the foam so I used liquid pearls on the foam and for the "sweat" on the mug I used glossy accents. This is the side of my card that is messed up.  I should have a rounded edge on the left side but I don't.  But like I said I am making it work anyway. DH won't even notice.

I cut It's Your Day from Wild Cards and Dad came from Beyond Birthdays.

The banner came from Just A Note that is on the E2 machine. My stamped sentiment is from Paper Trey Ink.  The twine is from The Twinery and my base papers came from DCWV The Guy stack.

Love is in the Air!

Hi Crafty friends, Brenda here from Friends Craftin with Friends.  This week on Sweet Sassy Diva the DT was asked to make something fun, no layouts, no cards.  So after thinking about it for a while I decided that I wanted to make a kissing ball.  I started with a 5" styrofoam ball.  Picked out my paper-old stack in my stash that was called Love Letters from Little Yellow Bicycle and then deciding on what flowers I wanted to use on my kissing ball.  I decided on some spiral flowers from the Flower Shoppe, the spiral on page 12, the spiral on page 13 and the spiral on page 15.  I my flowers at 2.25, 2.50 and 2.75.

There are around 160-170 flowers on my ball.  So I started cutting and rolling flowers, and cutting and rolling.

I placed a piece of ribbon on my ball for my hanger using to straight pins with heads. After having a pile of flowers done, I started gluing them onto my ball. 

Taking care to get them as close to each other as possible, I kept working around and up the ball. After I got to the top I glued flowers to each side of the ribbon hanger making sure to glue tight up against it so the pins wouldn't show.

Here it is with all the flowers in place. 

Now I thought that I would add a heart from the Sweethearts Cart, with the lips from Hannah Montana and the "muwah" from Smiley Cards.  I glued this to the side of the kissing ball. Then I took some pink twine and punched to hearts using some old Creative Memories punches.  I sandwiched the twine between the hearts and glued the other end in a crack of the kissing ball on the bottom.  Here it is handing from my ceiling.

Smiley Cards!

 I am delighted to be the Guest Designer today at Sweet Sassy Diva's blog.  This is Lori from ScrappinMyStressAway and the theme this week is Thank You cards.  I do not make my own Christmas cards because I send out photo cards.  I do, however, make my own thank you cards.  I typically make snowman cards as I love snowmen!!!

 I used Smiley Cards (for the first time) to create my snowman card.  I put a snowman on my gypsy mat at 3.94 inches.  I copied a second snowman and used Hide Contour to hide the inside cuts.  I flipped the second snowman and stacked it on top of the first snowman.  I added the layers (also at 3.94 inches).  I copied the hat layer twice so I could cut out the mouth in red.  I hid the mouth from the hat, buttons and glasses on the first (black cardstock) and hid the hat, buttons and glasses from the mouth on the second (red cardstock).

 I moved the hats, mouth and scarves to layer 2.  On Layer1, I copied the snowmen two times.  This way I can cut out three from an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of white cardstock.  I tend to make several cards at one time.

 Here are my cards cut out.  I folded them in half while the rest of the pieces were cutting out.

 I copied enough pieces for six cards and grouped them into colors on my gypsy.

 I used black, red, purple and blue cardstock for my pieces.

I put the adhesive on the card (not the hat) as the hat hangs off the card at the top.  This way it won't stick to  your envelope.  I used my Xyron to adhere the other pieces to the snowman.

 I added some stickles to the hat, scarf and the side of the snowman.  I thought about adding a stickle nose, but decided I liked them better without a nose.

My 6 year old son Tanner helped me with the stickles on the snowman body ~ he is such a good helper!

I opted to leave the inside blank as the cards are not very big and I write big!!

Smiley Card....Life's too short!

I had a great time making this card because it's fun trying to figure out all those images on my Gypsy without a handbook! LOL. I think this card is perfect for New Year's or a girlfriend's birthday card :)

Smiley Card Take the Cake!

I cut both the card base and the cake from the Smiley Cards cartridge. I re-sized the base in my Gypsy to be approximately 5.5 x 5.5" and cut it from craft colored cardstock.




I couldn't find a patterned paper that I really liked for this card, so instead I took some pink Core'dinations paper and ran it through my Cuttlebug using the Paisley folder. I sanded the embossed image so the lighter pink color would show through.

I also cut the cake using the craft colored cardstock, and purple Core'dinations paper that I ran through my Cuttlebug with the D'Vine Swirls folder (a must have folder!) and sanded.

The sentiment is from Pink by Designs "Take the Cake" stamp set. There are so many wonderful birthday sentiments in this set i had a hard time choosing one!

Super Cool Smiley Cards!

The images on the Smiley Cards are super fun!! It was a tough decision to pick one but I love anything with a snowman on it!! He is super cool!!! Added a little dimension with the pleats and used 3D foam stickers to raise up the snowman.

This week we were supposed to use the Smiley Cards cartridge on a project of our choice. I still have not scrapped photos from last fall, so I thought I would use this opportunity to do that. As I was looking through this cartridge on my Gypsy I found that it has some great images for the holidays, it has pumpkins, snowmen, apples, a caramel apple and many more.

I chose to use this very cute pumpkin as the center piece for my layout (I just love all of the emoticons on this cartridge).




I also used the October 31st cartridge to cut out my title "Pumpkin Patch", and then just cut out some patterned paper from Graphic 45 Hallowe'en in Wonderland collection. I still have some scraps that I wanted to use, so i used them to mat my photos. Super easy and quick layout!!



For my layout I used a sketch that i saw on the Scrapyland Blog, Susan (blog keeper) has some of the best sketches, most of the time you are using more then one photo per layout and I just love that because I always have so many photos. Be sure to check them out when you get a chance, they are super easy to follow as well. Most of the supplies that I used (including Cricut Cartridges) can be found at Scrapyland.com; (besides the border strips).

Smiley IOU Card!

Although this card may look a little simple, I used a technique that sometimes gets looked over...needed a cute iou card for a friend that helped me out so this one fits the bill!



Also, created it right after the Gypsy update and something had went wrong and machine started going crazy and making all kinds of noises....I am happy to report that I re-did the update on both my Imagine Machine and Gypsy and they seem to be working in harmony now! lol



RECIPE FOR SMILEY IOU CARD

SUPPLIES:



gypsy and smiley card files

cricut imagine or any cricut machine

xyron 5 inch label maker

Martha Stewart Glitter Glue

Martha Stewart Ultra Fine Glitter

12x12 pattern cardstock

4x5 solid (I used a tan) cardstock

6x6 yellow cardstock

Prima Rose

dimensionals



Set up your machine with the gypsy and choose for your first layer to cut out the card the rectangle card shape at 6 inches by 10.5 inches



I cut the solid paper cardstock at 5x5 inches



I then set the gypsy and imagine to cut the circle and IOU message from the smiley card cart



I folded the rectangle sheet in half after scoring it with a bone folder.....then the 5x5 cardstock I ran through my xyron sticker creater and attached to the top of the folded rectangle paper.



I then ran the smiley circle through the xyron and attached it to the top left part of the card



Now...run the topside of the IOU cardstock through the xyron that will make it sticky...shake your fine glitter on top and shake excess off (I like doing this as it is not as messy as using glue!)



Attach the glittered IOU to bottom center of the card using dimensionals



I used Markers to draw in hair, eyelashes, nose, and chin



Use Martha Stewart GlitterGlue pens to create the eyes and lips...boy does that glitter glue sparkle!



Add Prima Small Rose to hair like a hair bow



At the end I added 2 yellow rhinestones for earrings...and for added bling I added 3 blue rhinestones to right hand side of the card



On the inside of the card, I created a money envelope to slide the money in!

Smiley Cartridge Cuts: Circle Card 5 1/2 inches out of Dark Blue

Words: Love, Angel, XOXO all 3/4 inch out of White

Hugs, 1 1/4 inch in Light Blue

Angel Wings and Halo 5 inches across out of Light Blue

Smiley Face 2 1/2 inches out of White

World Cartridge Cut: Circle, 5 inches out of Hot Pink

Adhere all cuts to card and then adhere rick rack to inside top of card with glue dots.

Thread floss through buttons and adhere with glue dots. (Or use ink or pencil)
