Hilton Head!

Hi this is Bekah from shalomcrafts.blogspot.com!  This week's challenge was
a 'how i spent my summer vacation' project.  Being that school just started
back up and I'm a busy mom on a budget; I decided that the only whole sheet of
paper I would use would be my background.  The rest of this layout was made
using my scraps.

In my mom needs to get this scrapbook caught up frenzy, I made this entire page
in 20 minutes.  From layout to cut-out to glued down, 20 minutes.  You
moms know how it is.  So now all I need to do is print up my photo, and add
some journaling and done!

We love Hilton Head.  It's a relaxing, quiet vacation spot.

I made the sand dunes by tearing the light tan colored paper along one edge.
 Super quick!

To save time piecing together the lighthouse.  I cut it twice, once in
maroon on 'blackout' function and then the regular cut in white, layered and
done.

Recipe:

DCWV paper stacks, Brights and Neutrals.  (Green is the only one from the
brights stack)
The photo mat is cut at 4"by 5 1/2" to fit a 3 1/2 x 5" photo.
Grass was cut using the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge;  cut at  2",
cut 2.
The lighthouse was cut from Life's a Beach cartridge, cut at  11 1/2" once
in blackout (maroon) and once main cut (white).
The lettering was cut at 2".

Thanks for revisiting my all to quick summer vacation.  Shalom!

Rainy Day Picnic!

Hi all.  Bekah from Shalomcrafts.blogspot.com here!

Our challenge this week for SweetSassyDiva's Design team was "Picnic".
Since it's been either 100 degrees, or pouring down rain since about May
here in Louisville, I decided on an indoor picnic theme.

The title 'rainy day' and the word 'picnic' are both from the E2 American
Alphabet cartridge.  The shadow is a must for this cut to turn out so cute
with the umbrella.    I cut the 'rainy day' at 5" and the 'picnic' and
its shadow at 2.25".  The background paper is from DCWV Dots, Stripes and
Plaids stack.  I picked mine up at JoAnn's when they were 1/2 off!

Naturally, I added crystal Stickles to make the umbrella look wet.

And a photo of the little picnic-er on his quilt

(printed from Walgreen's online photo uploader, have you used this?  it's
super easy and my prints were ready at my local store in an hour!)

Even on a rainy day, you can have a fun picnic on a quilt!

Shalom!

Let's EAT!

Hi all.  Bekah from Shalomcrafts.blogspot.com here!

This time, for SweetSassyDiva's design team, I've done a mix-it-up.  It's a
BBQ theme using at least 3 different Cricut Cartridges.

I cut the body of the paper doll on 'blackout' feature.  That way, you can
use a Peachy Keen stamp to do his face.  I colored in the whites of his eye
with a white gel pen.  Peachy Keen stamps really are my favorite; they
stamp so well and they make the Cricut Paper Dolls so much cuter!

I used Everyday Paper Dolls to make the little chef and his grill.  The
banner at the top of the page is from Wild Card.  The title of "Let's Eat!"
and the soda and burger came from the Locker Talk cart.  I then matted some
4 1/4" yellow backed with 4 1/2" green for 4x4 photos and make a little mat for
journaling.

Hope you're enjoying your summer grilling!

Shalom

Happy 4th!

Hi, this is Bekah from Shalomcrafts.blogspot.com!

Puppy Class Grad!

Since I don't personally have any graduates this season; I thought I'd get a
jump on my little guy's scrapbook.  He starts preschool this fall and I'm
sure he'll be graduating before I know it!  So, here's a page I made for
his book...

He's in the 'puppy class' at school, so he gets a puppy graduate!

The puppy is from Create a Critter and the graduation cap came from the Everyday
Paper Dolls cartridge.  Mix and match elements from your Cricut carts; the
possibilities are endless!!!  If I forgot to mention it, the 'grad!' came
from Sesame Street Font cartridge.
Check out how I made it here..

Thanks for crafting with me, Shalom!

Beach!

This beach page has it all!  Here the whole 12 x 12 is...

The title, which was cut from the Life's a Beach cartridge; 3 times.  Once in blue, once in grey, and once in orange.  If the image doesn't have layers, you can make your own with a pair of sharp scissors!

A close-up of the shovel and pail, again make your own layers, as well as some details of the patterned paper. (by Cosmo Cricket - Salt Air collection)

Even a cute little mermaid to journal by...

The recipe for this project is as follows:

Supplies:     Life's a Beach Cricut Cartridge

12 x 12 patterned paper - Cosmo Cricket, Salt Air Collection.  1 sheet for the background as well as another patterned paper for the strips at the bottom and journaling tag.

12 x 12 DCWV brights stack solid colors, Grey, Red, Teal, Orange, Blue, Yellow

Cuttlebug with Birds and Swirls Folder

Hole punch

Sharp Scissors

Adhesive of choice; I used ATG gun and Zig 2 Way Pen...

Method:  I cut multiple layers of the title in grey, glue and orange; then cut them apart to make the layers for the pelican.  I cut the pieces using my Gypsy at 6.81 inches by 3.50 inches.  If you don't have a Gypsy, use 3 1/2" on your Expression for height.  Cut the pelican's feet and beak off of the orange cardstock add to the grey pelican.  Punch the eye out of the pelican using a small hole punch.   Cover the blue pelican with your now layered pelican and glue together to make your title.

Cut the beach ball and its layer at 2 1/4".  Cut two; one grey and one red.  Layer.

Cut the pail and shovel at 2 1/4".  Cut two: one grey and one teal.  Cut apart the teal bucket handle and water inside using small, sharp scissors.  Layer.

Cut a photo mat to 6 1/4" by 4 1/4" for a 6x4 photo.  Using the Cuttlebug; emboss the yellow mat with the Birds and Swirls folder.

Arrange all the pieces and enjoy your summer-y beach layout.

Happy Crafting!

Hi, I'm Angie. I've been married for 19 years, going on eternity ;) and we have 6 beautiful kids. We currently live in Wasilla AK, thanks to the Navy. We are in the process of adjusting to civilian life. I am in the process of building a farm that I have always wanted. As for being crafty I love trying new things. I like recycling stuff and using the last bit of scrap paper or ribbon possible. I'm a scrapbooker at heart, that is where it all started. I fell in love with my cricut...and then my expression...and then my gypsy. Along with that I'm learning to spin wool, crochet and hopefully knit. I like to make jewelry (mainly just stringing beads...moved up from maccaroni ;) ) and then anything else that I can get my hands into. Basically I'm a getting back to my roots that I had left for way to long, and loving every minute of it.

Becka

Hi everyone, my name is Rebecca Maddux, but everyone calls me Becka and my blog is: www.creationswithbecka.blogspot.com . I am so excited to have been asked to continue on the Sweet Sassy Diva design team. I had so much fun the 1st time around. Here is a little about me. I have two beautiful children Cooper and Kayla and have been with my wonderful husband for 14 years. We live in Reno, NV and love all the mountains surrounding us. I work full time, but try to craft as much as I can in my spare time.

Bekah
I'm a wife, mom, teacher and crafter who lives in Louisville, Ky.  I love to read, knit and scrapbook whenever I find the time.  My blog: http://www.shalomcrafts.blogspot.com/

Dawn
My name is Dawn Lisinski aka NurseViper on the Cricut MB's and my blog address is http://scrappyrn-scrappyrn.blogspot.com/

I am a mother to 5 (soon to be 7) and grandma to 13 (soon to be 11--see increase in children LOL). I am also an RN who is currently a SAHM and wife to my wonderful husband of 27 years.

I started out scrapping with a shoe box of stickers and some 8x11 papers but then watched that silly infomercial back in 2007 and DH said I bet you could save on stickers with that LOL little did he know how much it would end up costing.

I mainly scrapbook but also make cards and recently been into altering projects as gifts for others.  I can range from simple to complex projects and I like to make things that can look like they took alot of time and money, but can give the viewers a way to get these done quickly and with very little expense.

Jen
I live in Wisconsin with my husband and 3 cats (who rule the house) and I have 3 grown children. I started scrap booking about 5 years ago. A friend started it and was showing me what she had done and that was all it took… I was hooked! My Mom had been a card maker for several years before that and she got me hooked on making cards. Which is really a good thing since she doesn’t make cards anymore, she just calls me and tells me what she needs. She has an embroidery machine (s!) now, but I’m steering clear of that, I’m having too much fun with paper crafting! My blog: http://3catsandabug.blogspot.com/

Jen

Hello everyone!!! Jen here from www.mymentalinstability.blogspot.com . I just want to first say welcome to all our new faces in the SweetSassyDiva Design Team! This will be my 2nd run in this DT and I have to say I love it! I am a domestic goddess in the wonderful state of Alaska. I have been married for 13 years and have 2 amazing kids. Eliasson is 12 and Allison is 10. We spend our days in the summer going to their sports events, hunting, fishing, gold prospecting and riding our 4-wheelers. In the winter we are just as busy ice fishing, riding our snow machines, going to the Iditarod and hanging out with our family and friends. Speaking of friends one of our fellow DT sisters is a great friend of mine that I craft with all the time. That's Angie!! We live about 10 miles apart and find any excuse to craft or just hang out. I am a crafter of all sorts. I love to paper craft and you could almost call me a professional card maker as I sell my cards. I also sew, crochet, wood work, candle make...basically if I see it and like it I will do it :D I also fill my time baking and cooking for my fabulous family. We also have 2 sweet fur babies who are Pembroke Welsh Corgis. Thanks for stopping in today and keep your eye out for some spectacular projects that are bound to blow you away! Have a great day!

Kim

Hi! I am so happy to be apart of the SweetSassyDiva Design Team! I love to create and make fun things for my friends and family! I love to learn new techniques and share them with others. I teach full day Kindergarten for my “day” job and create in my spare time. I am married to my best friend who supports my crafting hobby as well as my teaching needs! We currently have two girl German Shorthairs that are a huge part of our family. My blog address: http://rickettscricuts.blogspot.com/

Liza
I am 30 years old, I have a fabulous husband and three awesome kids. I purchased my first Cricut machine in 2008 and fell right into paper crafting. I bought it to help with party decor as I was an avid event planner. Now, I make cards and gifts. I very rarely make layouts, only when I have the "right" picture. I love to spend crafting time with my kids, help them with school projects, classroom party favors, or just for fun. Papercrafting is a HUGE stress reliever for me, I can use my imagination and there are no limits....only in the pocket :) I have been publised in a number of issues of the Cricut Magazine.  My blog is http://www.hooscrafty.blogspot.com/.

I really love making cards and learning new techniques, sometimes my mind freezes and I look forward to being part of the SweetSassyDiva design team. I don't really think I have one type of style, I like to play around with everything. I love to look at others for inspiration, and I hope that I am creating some too!!

Lori
I am married and have 3 dirty, stinky boys ages 21, 16 & 5. I run a home daycare and work very part-time at Michaels where I teach scrapbooking and Gypsy/Cricut classes. I have been scrapbooking for 14 years. I find myself doing a lot of baseball, bowling and little boy pages which is not as fun as the flowery, frilly girl pages that I squeeze in when I can. I use my Gypsy for the majority of my projects, but I also have a cuttlebug, an Imagine, a Bind It All, some punches, some stamps and lots and lots of paper!! Did I mention that I have lots of paper?? I mostly scrapbook 2 page layouts, but I also make mini albums, notepads, cards and other fun paper projects.  My blog is http://www.scrappinmystressaway.blogspot.com/.

I love hot weather and am an avid runner. I also have my own Jewelry Business. I make hand made jewelry. I love creating and sharing my talent with others. I love scrapbooking outside of the box. No Rules is my only rule when creating. I love running early in the mornings and enjoy scary movies. Love just spending the weekend with my family and friends. I love posting new creations or new techniques on my blog at http://pattisscrapingtime.blogspot.com . I love spending my afternoons taking pictures of just about anything. Love taking pictures of unusual signs and just strange objects.

I am always up for a challenge and love working with others that share this same passion. I also, love sharing my creations and my “Know How” of how things are created. I love to teach others how to create and make beautiful paper creations. I strongly believe that what we do here is not just a “pass time” or hobby, but a legacy that we are building and leaving for our future generations. I thank you in advance for this wonderful opportunity.
