Warming by the Fireplace!

Hi Crafty friends!  Brenda here from Friends Craftin with Friends.  I am thrilled to be guest designer today at Sweet Sassy Diva!  Thank you for having me Bobbi Jo! For our challlenge we were asked to make a scene.  My scene is from Christmas watching our DG open her presents from us.  I used my Gypsy to lay out my overall design and yes, I do falter a little from it. lol 

I also used my Gyspy along with my Imagine to print and cut out all my images.  Here is my Imagine printing and cutting.

I then inked all my images before assembling them.

 Here they are ready to go onto my lo now.

The carts that I used are: Country Life, Joys of the Season, Jolly Holidays, Imagine More, Imagine More Cards, Mr. Frosty and Kate's Kitchen. Here's my finished layout:

Disney Blog Hop!

If you arrived here from Kim then, you are in the right spot!  I am honored to be a part of this blog hop that Shawn and Melissa so graciously are hosting.  If you arrived at my blog first, please after enjoying my project, go to Shawn's site.  I know you will not want to miss any of the amazing projects that all the creative and tallented bloggers have created over the two days.

For this hop, I created a 12x12 scrapbook page layout titled "Here Comes..".  I am working primarily with the colors of yellow, black, white and red.  I did however throw in some blue this time around. 








I used cricut cartridge sweethearts for the font and my trusty hide contour that is on the Gypsy. I really like this feature. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a shadow feature. I cut out one in black and yellow. To mimic a shadow feature, I off set the two and viola! The clear rhinestones gave some additional bling to the title.







I took the straight candy striped ribbon from my stash and made a bow.









I cut three shadow Mickey head icons an inch smaller than the next. This cut is from the cricut cartridge Mickey font.










On the bottom left hand side is a candy stripe journaling tag.









Above is the full 12x12 layout. Doesn't he look dapper sporting his hat? He's just waiting for three photos for the black mat.

Can you guess which Cricut Cartridge was used to make Mickey's hat?  I bet you know how to search for that now.  If not, the secret is on Shawn's site.  I can tell you that from my personal experience that while the Gypsy has a search feature, mycutsearch pulls up more choices.

Gift Card or Money Holders!

Travelin’ Nana here, (aka Donna). We are in Florida now for the Winter. Much warmer than Kentucky was when we left there at -1 degrees.

Our challenge this week was Stocking Stuffers. I had a hard time with this challenge, but attempted something anyway. Please excuse the pictures, as I do not have a white wall or area to take pictures in the RV.

I made a Snowflake and Santa Hat that will hold either money or a gift a card, a Stocking to hold candy (couldn’t find those Mini Candy Canes here), and a Door Knob Holder that has a little envelop for money, a gift card, or a note.

Supplies:

Joys of the Season, Christmas, and Christmas Cheer Cartridges
Red and Blue Card Stock
Sparkling White Card Stock
Blue Patterned Snowflake Paper
DCWV Handmade Christmas Stack
Pearls, Bling, and Buttons
Glue Dots, Glue Pen, and Tape Runner
Christmas Ribbon
Red Bazzill Edge Strip
Graphic 45 Christmas Sheet
Small Green Envelope 1 ½ X 2
Foam Snowflakes



Recipe for Santa Hat:

Cut (2) Santa Hats at 5.70X5.47 height from the Joys of the Seasons Cart. Use Red Sparkly Card Stock from the DCWV pack. (flip flop one)

Adhere the two red hats together using tape runner with a glue dot here and there so they will stay together. (Leave the top open to fill.)

Cut another Santa Hat from the Sparkling White using the same sizes.

Cut the Ball and Cuff from the Sparkling White hat and adhere it to the front of the Red hat.

Adhere three Foam Snowflakes to the front of the red hat.
Stuff with money or gift card
Recipe for Stocking:

Cut (2) Stockings at 3.98X7.24 height or larger from the Christmas Cheer Cart. Use a piece of paper from the DCWV pack. (flip flop one)

Adhere the two stockings together. (Leave top open.)

Cut Bazzill Strip to fit across top area of stocking.

Add pearls.

Add Christmas Buttons down front.

Stuff with small candy canes.

Recipe for Snowflake:

Cut (2) Snowflakes in blackout mode at 4.91x4.65 height, using the Christmas Cheer Cart. Use Blue Card Stock. (flip flop one)

Cut (1) Snowflake out of the Blue Snowflake Pattered Paper the same size (don’t use blackout),

Adhere the Snowflake Patterned Paper piece to one of the blue card Snowflakes. This will be the front.

Adhere the front piece you just made to the other blue card stock snowflake to make the pocket.

Put Snowflake Buttons where all the cutouts are on the front of the Snowflake.

Adhere all but the top of the pocket with glue stick or tape runner.

Stuff with money or gift card.

Recipe for the Door Knob Holder:

Cut (2) Door Knob Holders at 7 inches height, from the Christmas Cart., using Red Card Stock. (flip flop one)

Adhere the two Door Knob Holders together except at the top of the pocket.

Use Graphic 45 cutouts and Green Bling to embellish front.

Adhere Dec 25th from Graphic 45 Sheet to front of a little envelop and tuck it in the pocket.

Tie Graphic 45 “Night Before Christmas” tag with Christmas Ribbon and adhere to top right of Holder.

Stuff with money, gift card, or note.

Not your typical Shall We Dance Vignette!

aMerry Christmas!  It's Nadia from With Glittering Eyes!  I would love to share a two-part Christmas project I have created using Shall We Dance (along with a few other cartridges) and Post-It Full Adhesive Craft Paper.  The first vignette...

To begin, I started with the figure on page 28, cut at 5-1/2" twice.

On one cut, I cut away her bottom half; on the other, I cut away her head, arms, and skirt to use as a pattern.  I hand-cut a new dress, adding folds for the full skirt, long sleeves with cuffs, and a ribbon belt.  I did add a bit more hair too!  Stones created quick jewelry.  I drew in her face instead of using the layer cuts so that I could get a little more detail.

The fainting couch is from the Heritage cart (page 49).

I cut it at 2-3/4", adding ink to create the wood detail and shading.  The cart cuts a space between back and seat on the furniture, so I added a piece of black cardstock behind it.  My Zig Millenium 01 fine pen allowed me to add details to the wood.  I used a 5/8" punch to cut a circle from red velvet flock paper to make a bolster pillow.  The Zig pen and a paper tassel I cut finish it off.

The wreath is from Joys of the Season (page 66), cut at 2".  I cut the base from Post-It Craft Paper, color Evergreen (found in the Jewel Tones package).  The layers are cut from regular paper.  Unlike some specialty papers, the Post-It papers are easy to glue on to.  This is important if you are like me and enjoy a mix of 2D and 3D effects on your projects!  Additionally, this paper can be cut without cutting the liner.  To do a kiss cut on this product, your machine should have the following settings:  blade depth 4, speed medium (3), and pressure medium (3). 

The background is a beautifully muddled printed paper.  To it, I added cuts from Home Accents (cut at 1-1/4") to create a wall paper effect.  I used more of the Post-It Paper to do this, saving the negative space for the next vignette.  This was cut using color 'Lucky' from the Brights pack.

 I popped up the figure to pull her farther off the surface with those great Ranger 1/4" pop dots, stacked to equal 1/2".  Using the ATG, I glued the vignette to a mat.  This finishes at 6-1/2" x 6-1/2". 

The next vignette started in much the same way.

I cut two figures at 5-1/2".  This figure is from page 32.  Cutting away the head and limbs on one, I was able to create a pattern for a new outfit.

 
The figure's right arm was cut and replaced to be slightly behind her and downward.  Her feet were flocked to create slippers.  I drew her face on using the Zig Millenium, Sakura Jelly Roll pen, and colored pencils.

The cat is cut from Four Legged Friends at 1", flipped and without layers.  I colored in the face, limbs, and tail for detail.  Embroidery floss creates the ball of yarn.

The background is the negative space left over from the wall accents cut for the first vignette.  I used an ink pad to give a bit of texture to the plain paper and to coordinate with the first background.  I peeled the backing and placed directly onto the 6-1/2" x 6-1/2" mat cut to match the first as well.  Easy and smooth adhesion is the key advantage of the Post-It paper!

I cut the desk from Sentimentals at 2", inking for detail and adhered it to the Post-It paper.  I hand-cut a pet gift box.  The snow globe is a couple of strips of wood veneer paper, layered and inked to make a stand and an image from Google of a nativity scene, punched in a circle and 'glittered' with Stickles.

The figure and cat were popped up with Ranger pop dots to pull them off the surface.

Supplies to make: Skate, Stocking, Hat, and Package Tags:

Red, White, and Black Card Stock



Green Patterned Card Stock

Various Scrap Christmas Papers



Red "Half the Edge Bazzill Card Stock Strips"

Cricut Celebrations, Christmas Cheer, Joys of the Season and Christmas Cartridges



Stickles and White Glitter

Glue Pen and Adhesive



Bling

Ribbon



Hole Punch





RECIPE:



Use Christmas Cartridges to cut the Skate, Stocking, and Hat with the Cricut at any size and color card stock, except white. (I cut mine around 4 1/4" high). I use the Gypsy for everything, so the measurements I give are always from it)

Then cut another set of everything in white so that you can cut out and layer onto the colored pieces you just cut.

Then cut the boot part of skate, top and foot pieces of stocking, and the fur pieces for the hat from the white set with scissors so you can layer.

Adhere the white layers to the colored items.

Cut the Package Tag from the Green Patterned Card Stock or whatever color you want at 4 1/2" height with the Cricut Celebrations Cartridge.

Cut a piece of the Red Bazzill Edge Strip to fit across the Green Tag.

Cut the Packages out of various Christmas paper scraps in different sizes to fit the tag. (I used .88", 1.00", and 1.12" height.)

Adhere the Red Bazzill Strip and Packages to the Tag.

Adhere the Packages to the Tag.

Cut (4) To: and From: in Black at .65" height from the Celebrations Cartridge.

Adhere the "To and From" to all of the Christmas Tags.

Use Stickles or any glitter around the areas you want to pop.

Use Bling if you want to.

Punch hole in top of tags where you want the ribbon.

Tie Ribbons through the holes.

A Partridge in a Pear Tree!

I used the Cricut Cartridge Joys of the Season and the Cricut Imagine Cartridge

Imagine More to make this book.  I used red and white patterned cardstock

that I got from Costco years ago.  Then I used a black and white gel pen to

doodle all over the shapes to give it a little pop.  I put the pages

together using an office binding system with plastic combs for the spine.
