Under the Sea!

Today we arrive at the port of Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos at 7 am and spend the day enjoying the sun, sea and water among other sites!  There are also extra excursions that you can purchase and one of them is scuba and under sea diving.  Won't this look great with some pictures below!? wow!

Here is a wonderful two page layout for a mini that Jamie put together for your enjoyment and details to make your very own!

Be sure to send the love by leaving a comment.

SweetSassyDiva

For todays challenge the SweetSassyDiva DT was asked to create a 2 page mini album layout (5 3/4 x 8 3/4) that had a beach theme.. we get extra credit for using the same colors as the color challenge (bright blue, neon green, hot pink, yellow, orange).

I used Life's A Beach to create my layouts.

For the first page I cut the green cardstock down to 6.5x4.5 for a photo mat for a 4x6 photo. I cut the title for the scuba diver (under the sea) at 2 inches in blue and then I used a blue chalk ink to make it a little darker than the background, since I used the same blue for both. The seahorse boarder is cut at 1 inch and I cut off one of the extra seahorses so that it fit correctly to the page. I adhered the photo mat and the seahorse boarder. And for the title I used blue glitter glue to cover just the words and the bubbles and I only adhered it at the bottom so that the picture could slide in the picture.
(1st page)
(close up of title)

For the 2nd page I got a tad more complicated. I cut out the seahorse from the card setting at 5 inches and cut off the back side of the card. I got a green piece of cardstock and cut it down to about 8 inches x 4 3/4 inches, folded it in half and dabbed some blue ink on the outside to give it a little color. I then adhered the seahorse cover to the front of the green folded paper and adhered the whole thing down (I plan to use it for journaling but it could easily fit a smaller pic & journaling). I added some blue glitter glue to the background like waves.. and pink glitter glue to the seahorse and sea grass on the card area as well as a google eye. The yellow octopus was cut at 2 inches and I cut out the orange at 2 inches also on layer 1. The eyes and mouth are scribbles 3d paint. The little pink shell on the inside of the card is 1 inch from the Create A Critter cart (I had a bunch left over from Jaydens b-day invites).

Birthday Fishes!

This week the SweetSassyDiva DT was asked to do a color challenge based on this picture.

Perfect for beach or ocean type stuff. I made this card by taking blue strips of paper and ripping them.. then i glued them down to the card front so that it looked similar to waves or maybe motion in the ocean LOL. I took a sandy colored paper and did the same thing at the bottom. Using the Life's A Beach cart I cut out the fish in different sizes from 1in - 2in. All of my paper is from Recollections. I love bright colors so I have tons of bright color paper and cardstock. I glued the fish down in different places and put google eyes on them.. extra small and small sizes. And I wrote the sentiment at the top with a blue zig marker. Hope you like it!

Supplies:
ATG gun
Zig glue
bright blue, hot pink, neon green, orange, yellow & sandy card stock
blue Zig marker
google eyes

Be Mine!

This week the Sweetsassydiva DT was asked to make a project using the colors red, black & white. I picked my brain for something other than Valentines day.. but I guess this time of year its hard for me lol.
This card was fairly simple to make (most of my projects tend to be.. I guess thats life with a one year old). I cut the red card stock down to 6.5x5 (a tad smaller than the card) and then I cut out the hearts on my Cricut Expression using Doodle Charms, I used both the scalloped heart and the normal heart and cut them all at different sizes.. 3/4 of an inch, 1 inch, 13/4 inch & 3.5 inches. I then adhered the red paper to the front of the card and outlined the big one and wrote in words (I was going for sweetheart type of phrases but, I couldn't remember them all I know I got them wrong lol) with a black glaze pen, it gives the appearence of being embossed. And I used some black Scribbles 3d paint to do 3 dots in each corner of the card.
Thanks for stoppin' by and have a great day!

Photo Inspiration Challenge: Scrapbook Layout!

This week the SweetSassyDiva DT was asked to use this photo:

as inspiration for a project. I made this scrapbook layout. Not quite sure what pics I'm gonna put on it yet but at least its one step closer to having a book done.  LOL.

I cut the light blue boarder out with SCAL its approx 1 inch border around (my machine was a little offset and its actually more like 1 inch on 3 sides and 1.25 inches on the other side). I cut out all of the snowflakes awhile ago and they range in size from 1/4 inch - 1.25 inches.. also with SCAL. The center sheet of paper was in my stash and just fit perfectly in the middle of the boarder with about 1/8 boarder in between. I made the little snowman in the bottom corner out of 3 different buttons (I LOVE buttons i have tons of buttons lol) and used some black 3D scribbles paint to make the eyes, mouth, buttons, hat & arms for the snowman. I highlighted a few snowflakes with blue glitter and put a blue glitter dot in 3 of the corners on the white boarder.
Supplies:
blue, white, and white & blue patterned paper.
SCAL
blue glitter glue
black scribbles 3d paint
3 white buttons
atg tape
zig glue
Thanks for stoppin' by and have a great day!

Movie Challenge...Alice in Wonderland!

This week the SweetSassyDiva DT was asked to pick a movie to use as inspiration. I took this oppertunity to make an Alice in Wonderland layout. I was Alice for Halloween in 2010 (my husband was the Mad Hatter) and still have not even begun to scrap any of those pics.. matter of fact.. well lets just say I'm very behind on most of my books.
So this was not only a chance for me to catch up with some pics I haven't done yet, but it also allowed me to use my newest cart Disney Classics! YAY!
I cut Alice (page 4) at 5 inches. I cut the row of tea cups at 3.5 inches (from the page with the doormouse), and I cut the large tea cup at 3 inches (from the card page). The photo mats are cut at 6.5x4.5.
Supplies:
Paper - Orange striped paper, green patterned paper, purple patterned paper, blue, black, yellow, purple, green, & black card stock (all from my stash).
Other - Disney Classics, Cricut Expression, blue glitter, foam tape, atg gun, zig glue
Thanks for stoppin' by and have a great day!

Valentine Bag!

This week the SweetSassyDiva DT was asked to make something other than a card or layout for Valentine's Day. I made this cute little box and matching tag all using Platin Schoolbook and Design Studio. I cut it all out of the same red textured cardstock (from my stash). I glued white on the back of the tag and cut it out to make the back of the tag match the front. I stamped the Bee Mine stamp on the white side with red ink. The ribbon is from Michaels and the bow on the box was in my stash. I used a white gel pen to outline the "x's" and dash the hearts. I accidently folded my box up inside out.. other wise it woulda been x, heart, x, heart but oops.. it still works. Hope you like it!
Supplies:
Paper - white paper and red textured cardstock
Other - white gel pen, red ink pad, red ribbon, white ribbon, red & white ribbon, and Bee Mine Stamp from Michaels.
Thanks for stoppin' by and have a great day!

Party!

This week the SweetSassyDiva DT was asked to make a birthday party or Valentine's Day party project. I made this layout to scrap some party pics from my babies party (haven't got them printed yet). I used paper that I had in my stash and the Simply Charmed cartridge.
I cut all the cake pieces, hat pieces & the "party" phrase at 2 inches. I cut the balloons out at 1 inch - 2 inches (all different sizes). I used a 2 inch blue balloon to cover the "a" in "party". I put some balloons down with foam tape and the rest with my ATG gun. The photo mats are cut to 4.5x6.5 inchs and 3.5x2.5 inches.
Supplies:
paper: 12x12 confetti boardered paper, confetti covered paper, blue, green, red, orange, & purple cardstock
Other: Simply Charmed cart

It's a....

This week the SweetSassyDiva Dt was asked to make something using either a new cart or our fav cart.. I used Simply Charmed, which my husband got me for Christmas.. so its new, but it's also quickly becoming one of my favs!

I made this for my sister-in-laws sister... shes expecting twins one boy and one girl. :) I'm so excited for her!

I cut both the baby boy and girl out at 2.5inches. The background paper is wrapping paper I got when I first got pregnant with my baby, I cut the wrapping paper to fit the card. I wrote "It's a..." with a black Glaze pen and the "BOY!" & "GIRL!" are both the $1 glitter glue from Michaels. Fairly easy and super cute!!

Supplies:
Paper - 2 shades of blue, 3 shades of pink, black & patterned paper (wrapping paper for mine)
Other - blue glitter glue, pink glitter glue, ATG gun, Zig glue, black Glaze pen, Simply Charmed

Thanks for stoppin' by and have a great day!

Presents!

This week the SweetSassyDiva DT was asked to create a project using something we got for Christmas or recycling something that would have been thrown away. Well I did a little of both!
I made this layout using some wrapping paper from Christmas prensents. So the wrapping paper was given as part of the gift (it was covering it) and it was going to be thrown away! I cut the 2 smaller red boxes (actually they are photo mat areas) down to 2.75x3.5, just a little bigger than a wallet sized pic, and the large blue one is approx 4.25x6.25 inches, just a little bigger than a 4x6 pic. the present is approx 3x3 and I used some of the ribbon off of another gift and made it look like it was wrapped around the box. The title "PRESENTS" was cut freehand from the same red wrapping paper. The tiny tag was also cut freehand and only adhered down on the top half of the tag to make it pop off the page a little bit. I adhered it all down. I like how this turned out.. pretty cute!

Celebrate the New Year!

This week at SweetSassyDiva DT we were asked to make a New Years project! I made this sleeve with a little card. It fits perfectly around sparkling apple cider (or even wine bottles I'm sure). I cut this down to approx 10 inches x 3.5 inches in the blue (for the entire cover). I took some firework stamps and stamped them randomly around the blue sleeve with white and silver ink. I took a white envelope and cut it down to about 2.5 x 3 inches and inked the edges in blue, wrote the sentiment and free handed the blue fireworks on the edges in blue Scribbles 3d paint. I then adhered the open side of the envelop and left the top open then glued the whole envelope down to make a little pocket. I made the card to go inside the pocket with some of the leftover blue. I stamped it with fireworks the same way and wrote the sentiments in white Scribbles 3d paint. The card its approx 2.25x2.75 when folded in half. The top is some silver tissue paper wrapped around and tied on with a blue ribbon. simple and super cute hope you enjoy!

Stocking Stuffer Boxes!

This week at SweetSassyDiva DT we were asked to make a last minute stocking stuffer! I made these little boxes.

Recipe:
12x12 blue, green & white cardstock
Sure Cuts A Lot
Cricut
Adhesive
Clear Plastic sheet
ink pad (your choice of color)

Instructions:
Made the box file to cut in SCAL.. it's a plain box and I added different shapes to the top in SCAL and cut them out. I then scored them, folded them, adhered them together. I inked the edges one in black in and the other 2 in silver ink. I cut down my clear plastic to fit over the shapes on the top and adhered them to the inside of the lid. Simple. I put some truffles inside the boxes, tied some ribbon around some (to hold them closed) and stuffed them inside the stockings..

Thanks for stoppin' by and I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!

Party Time!

FOR THE YOUR STORY BLOG HOP CLICK HERE!!!

My little baby Jayden is turning 1 on January 11, 2011! I cannot believe how fast this year went.. Im gonna cry on her birthday I just know it.. (I cry on her month birthdays lol). I have all of this stuff made kind of early (we're doing her party on Jan 1, 2011 so that family can come since we'll be home then). Why so early you ask? Well... we are leaving WY (and my Cricut and all my crafty things) On Dec 12 and won't be back until Jan 5 so I have to get it done now!
This week at SweetSassyDiva DT our challenge was to make party stuff.. (invites, banners, gift bags, cakes etc.)
- What you'll need -
For the invites:
premade cards (I made a total of 19)
blue card stock
bright blue ink pad
hot pink card stock
neon green card stock
purple card stock
black card stock
black Glaze pen
black ink pad
clear accents
Plantin SchoolBook
Create A Critter
Cricut
adhesive
Cuttlebug
divine swirls embossing folder

For the gift bag:
brown gift bag (got mine at the dollar tree 2 for $1)
hot pink cardstock
blue card stock
purple card stock
neon green card stock
black glaze pen
adhesive
double sided foam tape
Create A Critter
Wild West
Cricut

- How To Make It -
The invites:
Cut the blue cardstock to the size of your premade cards (a little smaller than the front) and emboss with the Cuttlebug and Divine Swirls folder. Take your blue ink pad and rub over the blue card stock to give a little dimension to the swirls. Adhere the blue cardstock to the front of the card. With Create A Critter cut some whales and jellyfish (I cut my whales and large jellyfish at 3 inches and my smaller jellyfish at 2 inches). I cut them in pink and purple and saved the green for the tags (its a girl party so I just wanted the green to be an accent). Adhere the whales and jellyfish on the cards (upper middle). With Plantin SchoolBook cut out the #1 using roly poly at 11/4 inch in the green, purple & pink cardstock. Cut some strips of green & pink (they are the ones the words will show best on) approx. 1x4 inches and distress the edges using the black ink pad. Write the sentiment (I had wrote all of mine a stamp or printed version would work just fine) with the black Glaze pen. I just decided to come up with my own theme for Jaydens party, I already knew what I wanted so I didn't have to search for anything. I placed the strips diagonally and put opposite colored 1's over the end of the strip. I then covered the 1's in clear accents to give it the look of water.

The gift bag:
I cut the purple jellyfish at 4inches and the pink whale at 5inches. Adhered them to the bag toward the middle. Cut the strips of waves by the whale by hand and put foam tape on the bottom one to make it pop. I also cut the bubbles by the jellyfish out by hand. Using Create A Critter I cut the "happy birthday" at 2 inches in green, and with Wild West I cut all the other letters and the 1's. I cut the green 1 using shadow at 3 inches and the purple at 3 inches w/o shadow on, and the shadow green "st" at 2inches and w/o shadow in purple at 2inches. Cut "Jayden" in both green and purple at 2 inches (and shadowed them myself using opposites). I cut the "BABY" at 2 inches and the "baby" at 1.5 inches in hot pink. Easy!

Mini Album with Ring Binding

The challenge for the SweetSassyDiva DT this week is to make a mini album with a binding machine or binder rings. I do not yet have a binding machine so, I made a mini album using binder rings.

Recipe:
chipboard
2- 1inch binder rings
3 - 41/8 x 9 1/2 envelopes
patterned papers
different ribbons
big bite
adhesive
Instructions:

For the chipboard cover you will need two 4.5x5 inch & one 1 3/4 x 5 inch piece of chip board, one 6x12 piece of patterned paper (that you want on the outside of your book), one patterned paper 1/4 smaller than 6x12 for the inside of the cover. There is a tutorial on how to make this cover/binding at The Paper Trail I figured this would be much easier than me trying to explain it to you! (For my book I only used 2 rings and i put them in at 1.5 inches from the top and from the bottom.)

For the pages inside the book I cut down different patterned papers to 4.5x5 and adhered two pages together so that they were double sided.. do as many of these as you like. On a few of these I took some of the leftover papers after cutting them and made little strip pockets on the bottom.. just tape down on the bottom and sides this will make a pocket.

For the envelope pages I made 2 different types. For the first type I just cut the envelopes in half and sealed the envelope where the sticky stuff is on them.. this will make a pocket. I then covered both outsides in paper (approx. 4x4.5). Then I made tags to go inside of these.. they are also approx 4x4.5. punch a hole in the middle and tie with ribbon.. remember that you will have rings going through the side so the tag may need the ribbon more off to a side so that it appears to be the center.

For the second envelope pocket pages (these are soooo great) I have not seen these anywhere before (so I guess I came up with these on my own), if you've seen them somewhere else before disreguard that lol. Ok, for the second envelope pockets I folded the envelope in half (with the part you would normally put an address on on the inside). Put a strip of adhesive down each side (not the top) to seal it and form a pocket. The patterned paper to fit on these should also be approx 4x4.5 adhere to the envelope outsides by sliding behind the triangel pocket. To cover the triangel pocket you will need to cut your patterned paper to fit. On these envelope pocket pages you have a place for 3 tags.. the middle tag should be approx 4x4.5 and the triangel pocket tags should be 1/4inch smaller than 4x4.5.

Very simple book and very cute. I tied some different random Christmas ribbons around the rings but you can do whatever you like. I didn't add many embellishments I thought this was better as far as allowing you to imagine all the things you could do with a book like this. I hope you enjoyed it!
Thanks for stoppin' by and have a great day!

Oscar "Merry Christmas"

Our challenge this week at the SweetSassyDivaDT was to make a Christmas card using the Scotch Post-It Paper. I made this Oscar the Grouch Christmas card to give to one of my cousins (she loves Oscar).

Recipe:
Black textured cardstock
White Post-it paper
Crimson Post-it paper
Lime Post-it paper
Cocoa Post-it paper
Silver ink pad
Gold Adirondack Mixatives Alcohol ink (Tim Holtz)
6.5 x 5 inch white card
Christmas patterned paper (DCWV Holiday Collection the Christmas Stack)
Small paint brush
Sesame Street Friends cart
Happy Hauntings cart
Cricut
Instructions:
Using the Sesame Street Friends cart cut out Oscar1 at 3 inches, "blackout" with the black cardstock, "white" & "Layer 1" with the white Post-it paper, "Layer 2" with the Crimson Post-it paper, "Body" with the Lime Post-it paper, "Layer 3" with the Cocoa Post-it paper.
Using the Happy Hauntings cart cut out the "M e r r y" using the white Post-it paper at 1 inch.
Take the white garbage can and ink over it with your silver ink pad to give it the realistic look (I would have used a different color but I thought this would be a nice touch). Assemble Oscar. Adhere your patterned Christmas paper to the front of the card (make sure you have it cut a little smaller than the main card) and adhere Oscar to the bottom left of the patterned paper. Put a small amount of the gold alcohol ink on a piece of plastic or an acrylic block, using your paint brush paint on some of the gold ink over the letters from the Happy Hauntings cart. Peel and stick these letters to the top of your card (above Oscars head). With the gold ink write "Christmas" across the middle of the card just by using the tip of the ink itself. Let it dry and you're done! Hope you enjoyed my card!

Thanks for stoppin' by and have a great day!
