String 'em Up!

I love to make, send and receive Christmas cards! Usually I just hang a red yarn string on my wall and hang them on that. I saw an idea a few months ago that I kept stashed in my attic(mind) for a great project to make! Its not just like the one I saw but its my own version. I was so excited to start it! I know exactally how I wanted it to look and I think it turned out better. I sifted though my paper to find the perfect vintage looking Christmas sheets and then got on with the show!
I cut out my tags
Cut out my layers
Cut out my 'Merry Christmas'
Inked my edges and started layering
Added my letters and snowflakes
Decided I wanted shadows for my letters
Inked my edges and added bling!
Added big bling to my snowflakes
Used my new Tim Holtz alcohol inks to color my paper clips
Pigment inked my clothes pins
Glued it all together and strung up my new stringer :D
You can see where I added the paper clips so that I can hang more cards from strings if need be.
And now for the moment you all have(n't) been waiting for! A pictures of my super not so secret anymore 2011 Christmas card, card, card, card.....(I added the echo for dramatic effect)

TA DAH! :D

Ho Ho Ho!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Our drive to Valdez was nice. The roads were clear and it was just a nice trip down and back. Now that we are home its time to get back to doing what we do. The kids are back to school and I am back to making and baking. I plan on putting up my Christmas tree today and then ltting the kids decorate it tonight. Last night after we came home and unpacked I made turkey stock from our left over turkey and I will make some turkey noodle soup for dinner. Yum! This week was 'Trim the Tree'. I was just so busy I didnt have alot of time to think about what I wanted to make. So this morning I whipped out a little something thats easy but cute for the tree. I used 3 of my favorite things...snowflakes, glitter and newsprint! I cut my snowflake out of the Post-it craft paper then used the sticky side in the glitter. Then just glued it all together!

Photo Inspiration Challenge: Wintery Fun!

Have I ever told you how much I love snowflakes?! Ever? So you know I couldnt pass up an opportunity to use some in this weeks project. We were show a sweet picture of a sweet little one sitting in the snow wearing a great blue snowsuit and asked to create and be inspired by this pic. I went right into my paper and started looking for the 'just right' blue to use with my white. I got my Gypsy out (I love my Gypsy! How did I ever create before I had it?!) With it being Feb I really didnt want it to look too Christmas-y. So I tried to stick to the winter look being as tho we still have a few feet of snow here and this morning it was -4 outside :) I still look at this project and think it needs a little more...something...but when you have a deadline you dont get too much time to find out what that 'someting' is. We were super busy this week. I managed to get 3 birthday cards and 40 Valentines Day cards done! Like always we got a chance to get out doors and enjoy our beautiful state. This weekend was the Willow Winter Carnival and we were able to participate in the snowmachine Radar Runs. It is alot of fun to see how fast your machine can go in 1000 feet. They also had the dog pulls. Last we had seen there was a St. Bernard who had pulled over 1800 lbs. DANG! I wonder how much my little corgis could pull :D :D Well off to get my taxes done and work on my project for this week. ~*Jen*~

Joyful Christmas Card!

Joyful Christmas Card
This card was such a joy to make with the new 3M Post-It Craft Paper
RECIPE
12X12 WHITE CARD STOCK - CUT TO 8.5X5.5
RED 3M POST-IT CRAFT PAPER CUT AT 4.25X5.25
WHITE 3M POST-IT CRAFT PAPER CUT AT 4.0X5.0
3 STRIPS PATTERNED CHRISTMAS PAPER CUT AT 5.0X1.0
SMALL PIECE OF GREEN CARD STOCK
Ok first I created on Sure Cuts A Lot my basic card cutting file which is included here...just click on picture to download
I then folded the largest cut which was my white card stock in half this is your card base
the second cut which in this picture is showing green was my red 3M Post-It Craft Paper
I peeled the back off the post-it paper and applied to the white...easy peazy!
then your next cut in the picture is showing as light blue...I cut white 3M Post-it Craft Paper
Again easy peasy...peel the backing off and attach to the red
You next cut is showing as light green strips...you may use ribbon or I used the cuts on some really nice Christmas Patterned Paper I had and used my snail glue to adhere to the project.
Now instead of the big square cuts to go on top of everything I chose to cut my scalloped green cardstock on my Imagine using one of the included shapes...it was then stamped with the greeting and some glitter glue applied in a few areas and inked around the edges and dimensions added to pop up on the card for dimension
Next, I cut the small green and white labels from 3M Post-It Paper and affixed to the card and then wrote 2010 with my Martha Stewart Gold Glitter Pen
Then, for extra dazzle the tree was just something I already had that I thought would be cute...then I created the snowflake by cutting on my Imagine from my Winter Lace Cricut Cartridge set at 2.5 inches out of white 3M Post-It Paper...then peeled the backing off and applied ultra fine glitter to the tacky side (which I might add is so much easier than trying to glue and glitter on something so detailed) ... I then pop dotted it on to the card
Hope you like my project
