Mini Album!

Hi Jen from 3catsandabug.  I have the world's GREATEST In Laws, so I wanted to make something special for my MIL's birthday and this is what I came up with.  {Click on the picture to view it larger}  I used several cartridges for this: Mother's Day 2010, Celebrate with Flourish, Picturesque, Elegant Cakes, Straight From The Nest, Gypsy Wanderings, Story Book,  Tinker Bell and Friends and George and Basic Shapes.

The Fence was cut at 4 X 4 3/4 and the grass at 1 3/4 X4 1/4 welded

Happy was cut at 1 1/2 from Elegant Cake and decorated with stickers.

The butterfly corners were cut at 1in and the butterfly at 3.  The letters and numbers were cut at 1 1/4 and 1 1/2.

BDay was cut 1 1/2 and 1 1/4.  All the paper is K and Company, Tim Coffey's Cottage Garden and on this page matching 3D stickers.

The banner was cut at 1 1/4 and the floral was cut at 4 1/8, embellished with brads and stickles.  I also used a Martha Steward punch and some ribbon.  Mama was cut at 2 X 5 1/2 and also embellished with stickles.

The flowers were cut at 1 and the butterfly at 2.  The vase and other butterflies were stuff I had in my drawer.

The scrolls were cut from StoryBook at 1 1/2 and the Happy Birthday was from Gypsy Wanderings at 4 1/2

It was all put together using the Cinch and 1in wires.

Attention! Mini book!

Click Picture for blog hop and chance to win awesome prizes including cricut cartridges!
Photobucket
It was extended due to blogger difficulties.

This week at Sweet Sassy Diva we were all asked to make something using something new we received over the holidays or to make a recycled project. I choose to recycle! I have seen the toilet paper mini books before and when I saw the many wrapping paper rolls I had laying around after Christmas, I decided to make one myself.

Recipe-
Imagine More Cartridge
Birthday Bash (or any cart with tags)
5 sheets of patterned card stock cut to 5x6
Ribbon
CuttleBug with A,B,C plates
Hole Punch

I started by cutting down the wrapping paper rolls to 5 inches each (I got 5 out of my roll) Then I covered them with the 5 different sheets of patterned card stock that were cut to 5x6. I used a Glitter multi stack by DCWV.

I then ran each roll through my Cuttle Bug using and A,B and C plate to try and flatted out the roll (it did help, but I may need to stick mine under a very heavy book for a while to get them to lay a little flatter)

I don't have a Crop-A-Dial so I used a regular hole punch. I punched 2 holes 1 roll at a time (Man do my hands hurt, I may need a Big Bite LOL!).

Then on my Imagine I cut 2 different tags from Birthday Bash (5 total) at 4 inches and used alternate colors and patterns. I also cut out the little Monopoly Man (As I call him) at 3 inches for the front of my mini book from Imagine More. I used 12x12 textured white card stock.

I knotted a ribbon through the tag holes, and inserted the tags into the side openings of the paper rolls.

I ran a red ribbon through each of the holes to bind this mini book. I then added some accent ribbons. I also used pop dots to put my Monopoly Man to the front of the book.

I really look forward to making some more of these mini books. Hope you enjoy my little project this week!

Disney Family Memories Mini!

Hello my dear followers and viewers!! Today I have for you a Bind-It All mini-album! I love to do these but never find enough time to really sit down and work on them! I actually have four started!!!!

I did this mini from my husband's first time to Disney after almost 15 years!!!

Material used:
Disney paper Pack from Joanns
Bind-It All
Disney Sticker variety
Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut

I bought the chipboard in 12 x 12 and cut it in 4s and rounded edges. This makes it a lot easier to cut all the paper and make it a little faster to work with. I love how all the shaped albums look, but just looking at all the different shapes out there...... ugh.... I am not too good with the Xacto knife.

Thanks for visiting!!!

Imagine Happy Holidays Mini Album!

This week at Sweet Sassy Diva we were asked to make a mini book using which ever binding system you have (BIA,Cinch,Your Story) and since I don't have one (yet, on my Christmas list:). I was able to use a mini book held together with a ring to make my project.

Recipe
1 mini ring book (1$ at Target)
Christmas card stock (Christmas combo DCWV)
Jolly Holidays Cricut Lite
Post It craft paper (white/printable)
Christmas ribbon (1$ 4 pack at Target
Mixed Buttons
Star Embellishment from The Girls Paperie
Distress Ink "Walnut Stain"
White gel Pen
This was a fun project and so easy with the Post It paper. I started by covering the blank mini book with Christmas prints and then inking the edges for a more antiqued look I alternated red and brown stickles and also added the faux stitching along the edges.

I then used Jolly Holidays to print out all the sayings a characters for this book on White Post It craft paper.
Happy Holidays was cut @ 2 inches
The Elf and Santa was cut @ 2.5 inches
The Noel banner and the tree was cut @ 3 inches
The wreath was cut at 3.5 inches

After I layered all the images I was able to place them on each page, I added embellishments like buttons and gems.

Lastly, I tied ribbon around the ring and I really like the way it made the book look in the end. The back sides of each page were left blank. I will be adding Christmas pictures of my girls with Santa from the years past and give this to my mom as one of her Christmas gifts!

Sweet Little Friend!

SWEET LITTLE FRIEND ACCORDION ALBUM - POST-IT CRAFT PAPER FULL ADHESIVE

This album was so much fun. I got the inspiration for it from spending the day with my friend Lucy at our "Once A Month" day where we get together at each others house and have so much fun crafting while our hubbies watch movies.

It didn't cost me any "new" money. I used the Post-It Paper that was provided the Design Team to try out as a sponsor for SweetSassyDiva. I then went to every drawer and cubbyhole that I have and dug up stuff to use on it. I made up my mind when I started that I wasn't going to stress if the colors did not match exactly. My goal was to try out the Post-It Paper (Love It!) and to use all those embellishments that had been begging me to use them.

The front side has all little goodies that say friend, friendship, or memories. The back side has pockets that have sayings about friends and friendships.

I challenge you to make one using all your left over "stuff." You will feel good about it when your done.

Supplies:

Lime and Lipstick Post-It Craft Paper Full Adhesive Papers

Thin Cardboard from the back of a Paper Pack

Left over Patterned Pink and Lime Papers from my Scrap Stock

Craft Lace

Two Different Size Flower Punches

Pink Button Brad

Thin Pink Polk-A-Dot Ribbon and 3/8" Pink Ribbon

Vellum Friend Quotes from Creative Memories

Various Leftover Embellishments with Friend or Friendship Related

Pink and Green Leftover Tags and Button

Scallop Punches

Pink Marker

Recipe:

Cut the cardboard into (5) 3 1/4"X 5" squares. (I did 5 because that is what I could fit onto the paper for the next step) You can do as many as you want.

Ink around border of each card board piece with the color of ink you are using for your project. (Since I used Lime and Pink, I choose to use Pink.)

Cut the Lime and Lipstick Post-It Paper the same size.

For the best fit of Post-It Paper over Card Board, use your Cricut to cut if you have one.

Lay the card boards down on your mat that has ruler markings if you have one. Lay them straight across and leave 1/4" between each one.

Adhere a piece of the large pink ribbon (I used 30") across the middle of all the cardboard's so that they will be attached together in a row. Then do the same thing 3/4" down from the top and 3/4" up from the bottom. This will allow it to stand up and hold together. If you want to save ribbon you can just put two inch strips to hold each one together at the top and at the bottom, but use the longer piece in the middle.

Peel the backing off the Lime and Lipstick pieces you cut from the Post-It Paper and adhere them one by one to the card board pieces (both front and back). I choose to alternate colors for contrast. They are easy to remove if you don't get them on straight the first time.

It is actually easier to do the back of the project for the next step because it will lay flatter when you go to embellish the front.

Make (5) 3 1/4"X 3 1/4" squares out of coordinating patterned paper to make the pockets.

Tear each square back to front at an angle. Make sure you have your pattern in the right direction before tearing so you won't tear it along the side instead of the top.

Adhere each pocket with the glue pen. Make sure you leave enough room for your sayings.

Find something fun or make sayings up on the computer to put in the pockets. I even thought of pictures of my friends, but I didn't have them handy. I used CM Friend & Family Quotes.

Punch holes in every other saying and tie the little ribbon in them. You can put ribbons in all of them if you want. Some of my sayings fit sideways, so I couldn't.

Turn the album over and embellish the front side.

Attach the lace to the tops of each piece. Cut your lace a little larger than each card board covered piece as the lace shrinks up a little when you glue pen it on.

Embellish away! Go through your stash and use all that stuff up that has been laying around.

The Album folds up like an accordion if you want to put it in the mail.

It will tie in accordion style a whole lot easier with an even number of panels. I only had enough Post-It Paper to make 5.

I hope you have fun making one tailored just for you.

Be sure and try out the Post-It Paper. It is easy to work with and rework if you need to.

Happy Halloween!

Here are some Spooky Treats!!!

Alice in Wonderland Mini and Introducing....

Mila!  Hello Everyone! My name is Mila, but you may know me as M&M on the Cricut boards. I am so excited to be part of the SweetSassyDiva design team! I started scrapbooking after I had my son and noticed time was just flying by. I was trying to find a way to preserve our family's memories and stumbled upon scrapbooking about 3 years ago. My inspiration is my family, most of all my son. I would say that my scrapbook style is more towards the grunge vintage look, but I love all sorts of techniques and styles. Scrapbooking to me is my relaxation time, it is my time to unwind and have fun. I just love being able to be creative while preserving memories. I work full time during the day as a Database Manager and devote every free second of my time to my son. Once my son goes to bed it is play time for mommy. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 5 years; we have the most wonderful German shepherd named Marro, who was of course our first child before we had our amazing, very active son. I love being a mom and see my son's eyes light up when he learns something new. I use several techniques in my projects, as well as try to incorporate my Cricut and Sizzix Big Shot into all of my work. One thing you might notice is that I am addicted to Graphic 45 paper. I love to do all sorts of projects, from 12 x 12 layouts to mini albums, putting layouts on canvas, frames, and altering different items.

Happy Halloween Everyone! This is a mini album I made for my son using the paper collection by Graphic 45 Hallowe'en in Wonderland. It is so cute!! I just love it!! I glimmer misted all of the pages with Old Lace glimmer mist by Tattered Angels. This is one of my favorite, most used mist. It is almost clear with just a hint of glimmer. Enjoy!

Recipe:
-Tim Holtz Baroque Die
-Sentimentals Cricut Cartridge
-Fabulous Finds Cricut Cartridge
-Happy Hauntings Cricut Cartridge
-October 31 Cricut Cartridge
-Graphic 45 Hallowe'en in Wonderland 8x8 Pad
-Tim Holtz Ornate Plate
-Prima Bling in Black Pearl
-Prima Mini Roses
-Prima Lace
-Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist: Wheat Fields and Old Lace
-Crafty Secrets Alice in Winderland Stamp Set
-Crafty Secrets Halloween Stamp Set
-Tim Holtz Odds and Ends Stamp Set

The first thing i did was cut out 6 pieces of medium weight chipboard and colored the end of each edge with black acrylic paint by Claudine Hellmuth. Then i took the pattern paper and cut that with the baroque die by Tim Holtz as well. For the front cover I used an ornate plate by Tim Holtz and alcohol inked it in black (all of the metal embellishments are inked with black alcohol ink). Next I used a stamp by Crafty Secrets, cut out some of the pattern paper, and of course it could not be complete with out some Prima bling and flowers.

For the second page i used a clear frame I got at Michaels as a pocket to hold some tags. The tags are from the Happy Hautings Cricut Cartridge and they are cut at 3.5"H x 2.47"W

For this next page i used my Cricut Expression and the October 31 Cricut Cartridge ( I just love this cartridge). I cut out the image twice, once the whole image and then the next one i cut out out using the hide / contour feature, then used distress stickles. I used Tim Holtz distress ink on the leaves. I cut the image at 2.01"H x 5.00"W, I cut the tags at 3.5'H x 3.29"W.

The next two pages are pretty simple, I used the Happy Hanutings cartridge to cut out two frames. On the first one i used distress stickles over it and cut it at 4.97"H x 3.64"W, the second one I used Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint, cut it out at 3.84"H x 4.23"W.

This was a page I used my most favorite Cricut cartridge of all time... Sentimentals. It is an envelope pocket to hold some tags and pictures. I cut it out at 2.33"H x 6.31"W
This next page is so super simple, i loved the paper so much i did not want to cover it, so I used another acrylic frame i got from Michaels, it is the Recollections brand.

This next page is very interesting and I just love it. It is a mini album within a mini album. I cut out all of these little playing cards from the collection and then made them into a mini album to hold journaling and photos. I cut out the little tabs using the Fabulous Finds Cricut cartridge. I cut the little tabs at .36"H x .84"W.
This page is for some tags, I cut out the spider web using the Happy Haunting cartridge. The web was cut at 3.59"H x 3.07"W.This is another page that I used the Sentimentals Cricut Cartrige on, I cut out this file folder at 3.95"H x 6.89"W

The last page I used the Cricut cartridge October 31 and i cut this piece at 3"H x 4.63"W. I then backed it with some black cardstock so that the words would really show.

Here's the gypsy cut file:
