Sweet on Organizing!

Hello my crafty friends, Brenda here.  At Sweet Sassy Diva we were given the challenge of organizing with our Cricuts.  Well I'm not sure if you would call this organizing, but I did label some things. When all my guys were home I baked everynight almost so I kept old 5 gallon tubs that had mayonnaise in them for my flour and sugar because I went through so much of it.  I would buy 25 lbs of flour and of sugar constantly.  Well recently I was able to down size and only buy 10 lbs of each at a time.  Finally I could get rid of those huge tubs in my pantry.  So I went to Wal-Mart and got me some of the big glass jars and set off labeling with my Cricut.  I used From My Kitchen Cricut and Street Signs cart and my trusty Gypsy girl to do just that.  There was already a "flour" on there but not a "sugar" label.  So I had to make my own on that one.  I took two ovals and nestled into each other then I took my letters from Street Signs and placed into my center oval.  Welded my letters together once I had them the way I wanted them.

Then after I had it all the way I thought I wanted it I checked it out with the "eye" feature on my Gypsy to see how it would cut out. Looking good so far.

Here is what the flour and the beverages one look like that was already on the FMK cart and I only had to size them and cut them out.

Here is what the flour and sugar look like on my glass containers.  I didn't cut the "beverages" one because I wasn't sure if I wanted that one or not and I still haven't decided. lol

This is much better than the big 5 gallon buckets don't you think? lol  But when you are cooking and baking for 8 people you need big containers like that.  I still bake a few times a week, but can manage with smaller jars of flour and sugar. lol  I hope you can find something to label or organize with your Cricut.  Until next time my crafty friends...Happy Crafting!

Road Trip Mini!

Hi all my crafty friends, Brenda here and it is time for another Sweet Sassy Diva challenge.  We were given the challenge of doing a project with the theme "vacation".  Well last August dear husband and I just got into our car and started driving west.  We had no plans, didn't know where in the heck we were going to go or what we were going to see.  It was the best trip I've ever had! lol  To begin with we haven't been anywhere just the two of us in a long, long time.  I can say we had a blast and I hope that we can do it again sometime.  So since this was a special trip, I decided to make a mini album of the places we went and the things we did.
I started out designing my mini on my Gypsy.  I went with the interstate sign from the solutions cart, Street Signs.  I put the shadow on my mat and I put the sign on as well.  I welded letters into each part of the sign by hide/contour part of it. So I put Lawrences in the top half, and Road Trip into the lower half so it would cut out. Then I cut my front and back covers using chipboard, ok, it is the back of a paper stack. lol Those and cereal boxes make great chipboard!! After cutting out my shadow shape, I cut my pieces in the colors: black, red, and blue and attached them to my front cover.

Here is what the front cover looks like.  I added 12 pages into this mini, if I need more I will just add more.  But this gives me 24 pages to document our trip on.

I hope that I've given you some inpiration today.  Please stop in at Sweet Sassy Diva tomorrow to see another page within the album and check out what else my design team sisters have for you this week!!

Pool Party!

Hi Crafty friends, this week the DT was asked to make an invitation of any kind.  I thought about this for a while and while searching my Gypsy I saw that I started to make an invitation one time for a pool party for my son, but then he decided he didn't want to have one.  So I went with that idea.  I took the sunglasses from Forever Young and welded two shadow shapes together to make a shaped card.
I used white card stock for the shadow base of my card and then cut out the top layer out of black card stock.  I would have chosen a red, pink or turquoise blue for myself-but if I ever use this for DS he won't go for any of those colors!! lol  So black it is!
I was going to do the next layer with the cut outs at the corner, but decided that it looked too girly so I just cut out the lens layer next.  I cut that layer out in pool water paper so it looked like the water was reflecting in the glass lenses. I cut out "pool party" out of the cart Street Signs and stamped "your invited" using a Paper Trey Ink stamp.  Before gluing down "pool party" I put glossy accents all over both lenses so they looked shiny like lenses should.  After it dried, I glued on "pool party" added some bling because it just needed something a little girly-ok now I won't be able to use for DS unless we use plain for the guys and blinged out for the girls. I also doodled on my font sentiment. Yeah, not a great doodler. lol
I made the invitation so it would fit into a #10 (business size) envie. Now it is ready for DS to hand deliver.  If you are going to mail I wouldn't use the bling as it would coast extra to mail it.  Isn't this a cute invite?!!  We love to have people over to BBQ and swim in the pool during the summer so what better way to send out an invite for the pool!
Sizes:  shadow base: 8.90 wide x 5.58 height
base layer: 8.73 wide x 2.82 height
lens layer: 6.02 wide x 2.82 height
Pool Party font: 1.50
Enjoy seeing all the different invites this week, I know they are all going to be awesome!!!
