Lake Fun!

Hi!!  Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway!!

This week at Sweet Sassy Diva's Blog our theme is Vacation Anyone?  I took these pictures at my brother's cabin in May.  The kids were fishing and riding in the paddle boat and having a great time!!

I started out with my Gypsy:

I saw a layout on Pinterest that had some paper waves and wanted to make some.  I found this border from Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art and sized it to 4.8w x 1.58h and welded two together.  I hid the inside cuts with Hide Contour.

I cut out LAKE FUN from Martha Stewart Birthday Cake Art sized to .88 inches.

I cut out three waves and trimmed 1/4" off of one and 1/2" of a second wave in order to stack them.

I used this bright paper from Quick Quotes to layer my photos with!

I inked the waves with Opaque ink.

Next, I added some fish and fishing poles from the accessories on Everyday Paper Dolls.  I sized the fish to 2.41 inches and 2.18 inches.  I sized the fishing poles to 2.06 inches.

I added the sun and chair from Life is a Beach.  The sun is sized to 1.82 inches.  I copied another sun and hid all of the cuts except for the circle pieces to create a circle layer.  The chair is sized to 1.82.

I cut out the pieces from my cardstock scrap stash.

I inked the fish with a little pink and put them in between the waves.  I tied a knot in orange and blue twine and tucked it behind the waves.

I added the title on the water and put the chair in the corner.  The fishing pole is just above the fish.  I adhered one to the layout and pop-dotted the second one on top.

I changed the background paper to something more subdued and added a touch of orange twine.

I hope you enjoyed my layout from our mini vacation.  We usually all go to the Ozarks together every August, but this year (after 13 years) we are not able to all go.  It makes me a little sad, but I look forward to future family vacations!!!

Thanks Bobbi Jo for having me over today!!!

Diving into customization!

Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway.  My wrist is healing!!!  My cast is off and I am in the middle of PT!  I am getting my range of motion back and can now cut with scissors YAY!!!  They told me that crafting will help :)

This week at SweetSassyDiva, our theme is Lazy Days of Summer.

This summer my son Tanner took swimming lessons with a friend (and daycare kid of mine).  I really loved their instructor Drew.  He worked with Jadon a lot and let Tanner do the tricks he wanted to do.  He had endless patience with them which is rare from a high school boy!!  I wanted to boys to give Drew a special card to say thanks.

I used the card feature from Life is a Beach and sized the cards to 4 inches and 5 inches.  Because of the paper I used that looked like pool water, I set up the cards to cut out a little different than my normal "paper saver" mode.

The cards do not have layers for the swimmer, so I created my own.  I copied and pasted the card after hiding the extra cuts I did not need.

Here is a screen shot of the "cut" page.  I cut out the images in cream, red, yellow and blue cardstock scraps.

I used a micro pen to draw in the face, mask and details on the trunks and flippers.  I used Glossy Accents for the mask and the bubbles.  I had to get out my scissors to cut out the bubbles, leg and flipper that overlapped the frame of the card.

For this guy, there was a layer piece inside the cutout of the card.

Here are the two cards side by side.  I had so much fun making these simple cards!!

Escape!

Tina here from tiggersscrapplace with another post for sweetsassydiva Design Team. Our challenge this week is to use 3 carts or more. Well that's never a problem for me. LOL

I'm still working on my disney albums and had these photos from the Tiki room up next to work on. I went looking for some birds and tiki theme stuff and began creating.

This bird came from the Life's a Beach cart. He looks black here but he really is blue. ;o) The flowers are from Pack Your Bags.

This little guy is from Birthday Bash. I used my cuttlebug to add some interest to the cuts and then my usual pen work.

I hope you enjoy my layout and visit me at my blog for more great Disney layouts!

Sea World!

This week, our theme at Sweet Sassy Diva's is this sketch challenge.  This is Lori from ScrappinMyStressAway and I created my layout with some photos of our recent trip to Sea World.  I couldn't decide between Sea World and Dr. Seuss.....
I reversed the sketch and used only a few Cricut cuts this time.  My Gypsy will not cut welded images right now which is very hard for me!!!    I weld almost everything!!!  My E2 was getting updated all day (currently still updating at the time I write this) and I had to unpack my Expression to cut out my images.  To say this layout was challenging would be correct!!!

I used some paper from my new DCWV Paper Pad ~ The Snapshot Stack.  I thought this was fitting as I took a ton of photos at Sea World!

I grouped my cuts for both layouts on one Layer of my Gypsy.  I used Hello Kitty Font for my title and cut out the letters at 1.27 inches.

I cut the whales out from Life is a Beach at 1.82 inches.

I cut out my titles in red cardstock.  I cut the whales out of white and black cardstock.  I cut a little design into the black whale so the white "spots" showed.

I lined up my words where I wanted them to be on my Gypsy so I can use the template to adhere them to my layout.

Perfectly centered and straight every time!!

Here is one of the whales and my journaling tag.  This tag was from a KandCo set.  There was an orange detail that did not match, so I covered it up with the black and white ribbon.

Here is Shamu!  I trimmed a photo from the Shamu Show to the same size as......

Tanner with Shamu!

Sea World was a great time!  I loved the shows and feeding the dolphins!  I hope to return one day!
Thanks for having me on your blog today Bobbi Jo!!!

Hilton Head!

Hi this is Bekah from shalomcrafts.blogspot.com!  This week's challenge was
a 'how i spent my summer vacation' project.  Being that school just started
back up and I'm a busy mom on a budget; I decided that the only whole sheet of
paper I would use would be my background.  The rest of this layout was made
using my scraps.

In my mom needs to get this scrapbook caught up frenzy, I made this entire page
in 20 minutes.  From layout to cut-out to glued down, 20 minutes.  You
moms know how it is.  So now all I need to do is print up my photo, and add
some journaling and done!

We love Hilton Head.  It's a relaxing, quiet vacation spot.

I made the sand dunes by tearing the light tan colored paper along one edge.
 Super quick!

To save time piecing together the lighthouse.  I cut it twice, once in
maroon on 'blackout' function and then the regular cut in white, layered and
done.

Recipe:

DCWV paper stacks, Brights and Neutrals.  (Green is the only one from the
brights stack)
The photo mat is cut at 4"by 5 1/2" to fit a 3 1/2 x 5" photo.
Grass was cut using the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge;  cut at  2",
cut 2.
The lighthouse was cut from Life's a Beach cartridge, cut at  11 1/2" once
in blackout (maroon) and once main cut (white).
The lettering was cut at 2".

Thanks for revisiting my all to quick summer vacation.  Shalom!

Make your own Smash book!

Hello!! This is Kim from Ricketts Cricuts! I have been hearing about Smash Books on several blogs but haven't seen them in the stores where I am yet so I decided to make my own! I love notebooks and have them for everything! Bobbi Jo SweetSassyDiva was really nice to send me a youtube video explaining what a smash book was! I fell in love!! I always check the adorable notebooks in the dollar bins at Michaels and Joanns and found a really cute hot pink and white striped notebook. It has a little green turtle and a postmark on the lower corner. I knew that I could turn it into a smash book! Here is how I did it:
Here is the notebook from Michaels!
I added the red double sided tape for some rick rack.
I added some green rick rack!
placed my cuts on my E2 from the Life is a Beach Cartridge
Placed my paper accordingly!
Here are my cuts ready to assemble!
Here is my Smash Notebook ready to fill! :)
I added some white faux stitching with my new gel pen!
Now that my Smash Book is done I can fill it with all my treasures! I hope you like it! I know I sure did!

California Dreamin'

I'm so excited to announce I've been added to the sweet sassy diva design team. It's a great honor to be a part of it. Be sure to check out all the other design team members and their blogs. I know you'll be inspired with all their work.
My first entry was a beach theme and it was a lot of fun to go back a few years and scrap some pictures from our first and only trip thus far to the beach.

Of course I used my cricut and the Life's a Beach cartridge for all the cuts on this layout. I used my gypsy to weld the crab border together. I then inked it up all up. If you don't have the gypsy you could simply cut the border cut 3 times and glue them edge to edge. I cut it at 1 1/2 inches.
The title was cut at 2 inches and again I used my cat eye inks and brown pen to detail the cut. The sun is cut at 3".

The sand pail was cut at 2 3/4"  I added a button on the handle for some extra pop.
I hope you enjoy my first layout and come back to see more. I have 3 more beach layouts I'll be posting this coming week.

At the Beach!

My aunt absolutely loves sitting on our beach here in West Michigan, but because of the drive time she doesn't get to do it as often as she likes.  So I made this layout minus pics so that she could hang it up and remember what it is about the beach she loves.

I started with plain blue CS from DCWV and used some sand like printed paper from DCWV loose from the LSS hand torn to look like the sand hills at the lake.

I then used LIFES A BEACH Cricut Cartridge for the umbrella and chair out of white and medium blue CS from DCWV,  the chair and layer cut at 4.5 inches, umbrella and layers cut at 5 3/4 inches.  Fancy drink also cut from LAB at 1 3/4 inch with all layers at same size and cut from DCWV CS.

Seagulls cut from LAB at 2 inches from white CS and seashells are also from LAB and cut from tan CS at 1 inch and chalked with shades of brown and pinks.

The title was cut from blue and white CS from DCWV at 1.5 inches from LYRICAL LETTERS and welded in Design Studio.

Sun is a simple circle in yellow CS from GEORGE AND BASIC SHAPES and placed a bit off the page.  The cattails are a Jolee sticker I had hanging around in a sticker box.

The picture "frame" is also cut from LYRICAL LETTERS at 5 1/2 inches and turned on it's side, and placed on top of the picture which was matted on a piece of blue CS in matching colors.
