Party Time!

Let's get this cricut expression 2 e2 party started!

Before DD went to bed, she was getting cricut all dressed for his anniversary birthday party!

She was inspecting that everything was ready.

She thought the puppy needed a hat too! :)

Even papa needed a hat!

Although it suited cricut the best!

Will you be purchasing the e2?

Nesting!

I'm slowly in the process of decorating my home in Americana and primitives.  So this week when we were asked to design a project for home decor my mind started whirling.  This was so simple and so basic, but it is the one thing I've done lately that I like the most.  So here we go....my American nesting boxes....

Let's get started.....

I laid out all of the sizes on my gypsy.  I only used George and Basic shapes for this entire project.  I'm thankful for Jen "teaching" me how to use the unlink part so I could make the rectangles the size I needed.
Then I all I had to do was pick the paper and start cutting.
After they were cut, I inked the edges of my paper and also the sides of the boxes to give it an aged look.

Then I put the boxes together, added the star, some twine and thread (floss) and it was done.
I used very little in this project...
I had nesting boxes that have been here for a while waiting for me to do something with them.
DCWV Nantucket stack and Basics (navy blue for lids and stars)
Brown Ink
Glue
Twine and floss

SweetSassyDiva will be participating in the blog hop! Be sure to mark your calendar and check it out!

There will be a GRAND PRIZE of a Gypsy being given away. Just find the two "Hidden Mickey" blogs in the hop, one from each day, to enter to win a Gypsy donated by Marlo of Scrap N Tote! I hear she is also donating a scrap'n tote and scrap'n easel!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter from our family to yours!

We enjoyed coloring Easter eggs yesterday.  It was the first time that our darling daughter participated.  She had a great time and really enjoyed coloring them.

Here's your tutorial or rather tip:
Place the hard boiled eggs in a zipped plastic bag and a few drops of color.  A lot less mess and clean up is a breeze!  We colored some pretty pink ones too!

Here is darling son coloring some eggs as well.

Here are the eggs and the kids' Easter basket.  I love the vibrant marbled eggs that they colored.  They had a blast coloring them.  I think they would have liked to color even more but, there is only so many eggs that you can eat!

She was enjoying opening the eggs and finding the candy eggs within.  Then, she would put them back in again.  Mix.....repeat!

We enjoyed our eggs at breakfast and I picked up some cute egg holders.  There is also a blue one.

I hope that you have a wonderful and Happy Easter!

Spring Wreath!

Good Morning! This is Jen from 3 Cats and a Bug. This week SSD asked her DT to make a home decor project and I played along this week too. I've never done anything like this before, having only been doing scrap-booking and card making for a few years. I think it took me longer to think out the project then to actually do it! lol

I started with a wreath form from Joann's~ with a coupon it was about $3.50. This way if it didn't work I wasn't out much!

I then took 1.5" purple ribbon and wrapped it around the wreath form. Still not knowing if this would work or not, I only scotch taped it on. :) {Please excuse the very dirty table, as soon as it warms up I will clean all the glue off of it!}

I used 3 different carts for the flowers: Serenade, Pagoda and Sweet Treats. All the flowers with lose petals (not glued down) I ran my thumb nail over them to give them a slight curl.

The large flowers with the blue base were cut from Serenade at 2 3/4, 2 1/2, 2 1/4 and 2. For the smaller flowers, still from Serenade, they were cut at 1 3/4. I used stickles and a white gel pen on some of them.

For the large flowers with the pink base, I used Pagoda. The large were cut at 2 3/4, 2 1/2 and 2 1/4. The small ones with the dark pink base were cut at 1 3/4. The yellow ones were cut at 1.3, .9 and .6 on my imagine. The blue one, also cut on the imagine was cut at 3.0, 2.5, 2.0 and 1.5.

After I took these pictures, I went and used Viva Decor violet pearl pen to add purple dots.

For the large flowers with the purple base, I used Sweet Treats. They were cut at 2 1/5, 2 1/4, 2 and 1 3/4. The smaller flowers were cut at 1 3/4. I added yellow stickles to some of the centers.

I used Picturesque for the leaves. For the large flowers the leaves were cut at 2 3/4 and for the small flowers they were cut at 2. On almost all of the leaves I cut out the center leaf and used it elsewhere on the project.

The butterflies were cut from Sentimentals at 1.7 and 1.5

That brought me to the fun part... using the hot glue gun with 3 cats!! 1 of them is fearless and will stick her nose in everything she shouldn't. Not much different than my kids when they were little! LOL

FYI ~ the scotch tape I used on the ribbon worked just fine!! For those of us who can't make all those pretty 3D paper flowers (I hope I'm not the only one!!), these are a great alternative. Thanks for looking!
