Treat Surprise!

Happy Halloween to all you Sweet Sassy Diva blog followers.  In just two
weeks it will be Trick or Treat day.  I love seeing all the little kids
dressed up in their costumes.  For the Design Team Challenge this week we
were asked to make a Halloween treat goody bag or gift of some kind.  Well
here is my treat box.  I love making these boxes and have made them for all
sorts of occasions.  They are perfect to fit with candy or other goodies.
I often fill them with goodies from the $1 bins or stores.
So here is the finished product.
You start out with a 12 x 12 piece of  good cardstock.
You then score or fold at 4 inches and 8 inches both ways so you end up with 9
squares. Make good creases with a bone folder or ruler and then open up.

Next score each corner at a diagonal to the center square corners.  See
picture.  Make a good crease on these corners.  First I fold them out
and then in so they have  good crease.
Next you cut 18 square at 3.75 x 3.75. I used scraps from other Halloween
projects but you can also use  paper and make a pattern.  It's up to
you.
Five of the squares you will glue to squares on one side.  Four squares you
will cut diagonally in 1/2 to do corners.  keep paper from overlapping fold
lines.
Turn over and do the same on the other side.
Now you are ready to punch a hole at each corner.  Do not punch to close to
edge as it will tear.  I used my Crop a dile but you can also use a regular
punch.
You are now ready to decorate the side if you wish with die cuts, ribbon, etc.
I used a pumpkin from Pumpkin Carvings cut at 3 inches.  The witch
2.75, the ghost 3 inches and the spider 3 inches were cut from Happy Hauntings.
I also used some trim to decorate around the edges.  Make sure you
put trim on outside top and  face diecuts down towards center square.

For this next step take thin ribbon and thread through the holes and tie.
I leave about 3 inches between each hole when I pull it together.
 Tie a knot and trim.
Here are the four sides of the box.
The last step is to add ribbon.  Wired ribbon works the best but I have
used regular ribbon.  I cut each piece to 9 inches and tied a single knot.
There are three pieces on each

side.  If you use wired ribbon you can then fluff it up.  The wired
ribbon I used is from the Dollar Tree.

Now you are ready to fill your box with treats, candy or whatever you wish.
Hope you enjoyed my post and tutorial. Please come back this week to see
what other great treats the Design Team comes up with.  Also please stop by
 My blog  to
see my other projects.  I love followers and comments.  Happy
Halloween

Creepy Fun!

Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway!  I am the guest designer today at SweetSassyDiva with some Trick or Treat Gifts.  I made these for my son's teacher.
I started with my newest Halloween Paper pad from K&Company.  I found this at Michaels.
I put two cones on my Gypsy at 5.5 inches and cut them out with my 2-sided Halloween paper.  Silly me, I cut out the first set upside down!  I re-cut them.

To assemble, I folded the tabs and tucked them in the slot.  I punched a hold on either side of the cone and tied ribbon inside each side.
I took this spider (also from K&Company) and stickled him up with some purple.

I cut out these 3D flowers for a previous project HERE and had one left over.  I got these flowers from Close to My Heart Art Philosophy.

I cut out these flowers in purple cardstock.

I rolled them up with my Quilling tool and glued them to the flower base with Scotch liquid glue.

I had a dark purple flower left over which worked out perfectly.
I put some liquid glue and Martha Stewart purple glitter on the edges of the flower and adhered it to the front of the cone with some glue dots.  I adhered the spider to the top of the flower.
For my candy bar wrapper, I wrapped three different papers around the candy bar and taped them down.  I tied a purple ribbon around the candy bar.  I cut out a flower from Close to My Heart Art Philosophy out of 2-sided paper and used black acrylic paint and stickles on the edges.
Here is a close up.  I think it looks kind of creepy in a fun way!
Here are my yummy treats!!

If you would like to order the cricut cartridge or this stamp set, please send an email to Click Here! and I will send you an invite to my CTMH party.

Boo to you!

One of my besties sent me this great pack of stickers a few weeks ago and I just cound not wait to jump in and use them! At first I wasntr sure what to do with them but I wanted to do something cause they are so darn cute. Then it hit me! Make her a B-day card with one! Her birthday was on the 13th of this month so I have already sent it out. I wanted to make it looked a little haggared and distessed and a little spookily fun. I layered up a bunch of cardstock with sanded edges and use some gauze and velum. The placed Mr Frank front and center. Added some ribbon and tulle and a glitter button. I am really happy with how it turned out :D

Sweet Stamping Treats

For the hop today, I made a banner with the wizard of oz theme for Halloween. Additionally, my darling husband had a hip replacement surgery and this theme was fitting to cheer him up. I heard that he would have a long road ahead of him and I wanted to cheer him up and pimp his ride so to speak or in this case his post-op walker. So, I bought him a few things to deck it out including a wicker basket and toto!

He loves to see all the creative projects and crafts that I make so, here's the banner that I made for him and our little ones to enjoy.

I was excited to use my Graphic45 paper stacks called The Magic of Oz.

I used the Martha Stewart around the punch set called ribbon loop.

The insert in the set is really helpful to determine what size to cut your paper. If you don't follow the guide, you may not match up the loops.

I decided to center Dorothy for a number of reasons.

The most important reason was because home is where the heart is and as it says above, "there's no place like home". After spending time in the hospital, he was so ready to come home.

To maintain the balance, I created a layered pennant next.

It had the green but, needed black, gold and purple.

I trimmed the green block and added a thin rim of black. Then, I added a thicker boarder of the purple print. The remaining black, gold and black were trimmed from the Graphic45 coordinating core'dinations paper stack.

I carefully trimmed around the clock rather than making a straight cut.

The last block, features the scarecrow and tin man.

You can also see above that I added some beautiful cream glitter tulle as well as black. To give it some additional strength, I used the Crop-a-Dile and black eyelets.

Here is a picture of the whole banner:

DAY ONE (October 15):

Autumn!

This is Misty from The Daily Scrapper.
So my plan was to get a wreath and doll one up. But with 3 soccer games and my hubby headed back to work today we never made it to Michaels. So instead I made an Autumn wreath for my craft studio wall. It is in need of decoration. LOL Please ignore the great hole in my wall. We were off on the spot for the new thermostat. oopsies.
I love having a studio. I also love my new Art Philosophy cartridge. This entire wreath is made from cuts from that cart. I went with fun Fall colors. I hope it inspires you to create something fun today.

If you would like to order the cricut cartridge or this stamp set, please send an email to Click Here! and I will send you an invite to my CTMH party.

Falling in Love with Autumn!

I have to tell you, this is a VERY exciting day for me. This is my first project as a Design Team Member for Sweetsassydiva !

My name is Mindy Dickinson. My blog is called Grammies Craft Room ( I share my craft room with my 6 yr old granddaughter when she comes to visit )

I have only just been asked to join my first design team for Crafting When We Can Challenge ~ .
I am a Cricut Circle member and my message board name is NJGrammie.
I am mother to 3 grown kids and grandmother to 2 little ones. I have been crafting since I was 7 and my grandmother taught me to crochet. Since then I have tried just about everything out there. Paper Crafting and Counted Cross Stitch are my all time favorites.
I work as a ‘lunch lady’ to allow me to buy and play with all my crafting toys.
My husband bought my Expression for me 3 years ago and I haven’t looked back since. I now also own the E2 Anniversary edition ( bought at launch), the Imagine(bought at launch) and Gypsy (my favorite!). I have been playing around with the Craftroom and have been able to cut with the E2, but haven’t tried with the Imagine yet.

I have approximately 75 cartridges and use about 20 of them regularly. My most used cartridge has to be Kate’s ABCs. My summer project was to make a cut book with all the images from each cartridge in it... hahaha not finished !! maybe next year ! I have gotten more selective with my cartridge purchases, choosing ones that have a wider range of images.

I like to make cards, but I love to make ‘other’ projects the best.

My crafting style is definitely on the simple side. I know I am drawn to projects that seem to be on my crafting level. I love to look at the fancy, sophisticated ones, but I go back to the simple ones time and time again.

I hope you will visit my blog and see all the other things I have done in the past year.

This weeks challenge is to make a wreath. Since fall is my favorite time of year, of coarse I would be using warm, fall colors.

I started by using my Gypsy to make the wreath form. I put 2 circles from George and Basic shapes on my mat and sized them at 9.5" and 6.25"

and cut out using a 12x12 sheet of brown card stock.

Next came the leaves... lots of leaves...that are from Everyday Paper Dolls, cut at 2" in 3 colors. I used metalic gel pens to bring out the cut lines and sponged the edges in Close to Cocoa from Stampin Up. Then I embossed them using the Forest Branches Cuttlebug folder.

The acorn image is from Holiday Cakes. I cut the shadow, base and shift layer all at 2". For the base and shadow I used the auto fill feature on the Expression 2 . I set the paper size to 11" x8.5", chose the image, sized to 2", then hit the auto fill.

I did the same thing with the shadow and shift layer. After I had the 3 layers cut out I decided that I wanted more than the 2 basic colors, so I got the Gypsy out again and pulled up the shift layer. I did the hide contour thing so I could cut the berries in one color then the leaves in another color.

I inked all the edges and put them together. I have some spare parts to use in future projects :)

Some feather yarn for the hanger, a few rhinestones and some of the extra small leaves were added and I called it done.

One thing I want to mention is I used my hot glue gun to assemble this project. I have found that things that have been embossed are hard to attach with double stick tape or regular paper crafting glue.

My supply list:
Cricut Cartridges : Holiday Cakes, Everyday Paper Dolls, George and Basic Shapes
Cards stock - Stampin Up -More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Really Rust, Early Espresso, Mellow Moss, Tangerine Tango, Crumb Cake
Ink - Stampin Up Close to Cocoa
Patterned paper - old Stampin Up Designer paper
Sakura Gel Pens - Lime Star and Gold
Feather Yarn
Rhinestones
