Signs of Spring!

This week at Sweet Sassy Diva the Design Team was asked to create a project for
"Spring Blooms"
Hopefully the signs of Spring are starting to show  where you live.  Here in California we had very little winter weather even for us.   The flowers and strawberries are coming out way early around where I live.
I decided to make a card using a cart I haven't used yet.  This is one of my goals is to make sure I have used every cart at least once and posted it on my blog.
I made a 5 1/2 inch twisted easel one of my favorite cards to make.
The base is cut at 5 1/2 x 11 and folded in  1/2.
The square for the card front is 5 1/2  x 5 1/2.
Here is the picture of the front when it is folded closed.
Here is the card in open standing position
This is my paper on my mat. I later decided to add yellow flowers due to the background paper I selected.
This is what it looked like on my Gypsy
This is flowers and  background mat cut out.  Then you have to poke out pieces.
These are pieces which I layout on mat.  I then chalk edges with matching chalk to keep from having the white show.
For each flower I used double flower cuts.  The bottom one was kept flat and the top one I pinched inward to give dimension.
To finish off the card I added bling flowers for centers and regular gems in matching colors.  I also took some of the leftover cuts to frame the bottom.  I then added my stamp on a piece of cardstock, layered it and pop dotted it so the card would stand up.  I think I will add some of the extra flowers in for confetti.
So please join us each day at Sweet Sassy Diva to see the other creations the DT makes.  Hopefully they will get you in a cheery spring mood.  Happy craftin!

Flower Shoppe Wreath!

Hi my crafty friends!  This week at SweetSassyDiva we are doing projects with spring blooms.  For my project I decided to do a wreath made of daisies mums and some butterflies.
I started out with designing my flowers and butterflies from Flower Shoppe and Hannah Montana on my Gypsy.  Then I got a straw wreath form from Hobby Lobby and wrapped it with shear ribbon.  Sorry, I thought that I took a pic of the wreath wrapped but I didn't.  So next I got to cutting my daisies, and I cut many of them in different sizes.  I started with one size and then went down a quarter of an inch for each layer.  I had many sizes to work with.  I then scored down the center of each petal on each layer.
I rolled, pinching my score lines on each of my layers and stacking and gluing.  I had all my centers cut in yellow and all ready rolled and glue.
And here is what my largest daisy mum looks like.
I then cut out a lot of leaves in different sizes using a leaf from Flower Shoppe and a branch of leaves from Storybook.  I probably won't use all these leaves, but I wanted to have an assortment to work with once I started assembling my wreath.
Here is the final project all assembled and hanging on my door.  Please don't look to hard at my bow, I'm not much of a bow maker!!! lol And I apologize for the bad photo, pic was taken at night.    I think my wreath looks pretty good, just screaming spring and I am tickled pink with how it turned out!!!  I hope that the DT inspires you this week to work on a spring project with flowers!!

Design Team Challenge: Spring Blooms

Good Morning! This is Jen from ; http://3catsandabug.blogspot.com/ . Today's theme at Sweetsassydiva's is Spring Blooms.
I used Flower Shoppe for 2 of the flowers and one leaf. The rest were flowers from my stash. For those who follow my blog know, I'm working on using up what I have before I buy anything else. To make the flowers from Flower Shoppe, I used the first one on the cartridge, cut @ 3.
I start rolling it with my tool from Hobby Lobby. I like to roll my flowers tight, but that's personal preference.
I added a glue dot to the bottom and the flower is complete.
Complete, but boring. lol I added Strawberry ice stickles to the petals.
I added liquid pearls, petal ink to the center.
From Paper Trimmings I cut 2 floral borders, at 1.5 each. Adding stickles to one border and pearls to another. I also added some left over swirled gems around the flowers.
I cut 4 pictures into various sized circles for something different. The main picture is 4 X 4. The light pink mat is 4 1/8 X 5.75 and I used Perfect Plumeria ink around the edges. The hot pink mat is 4.25 X 6. I added 2 colored circles matted on white for my journaling.

True Friend!

Can't believe spring is almost here! Our winter here in New Jersey has been so mild it's seemed like spring since our only real snow storm ~ on Halloween ! For this  weeks challenge - Spring Blooms - I decided to make a flower pot card. I know, this is so last year, but I never got around to making one. I followed the great tutorial found at Splitcoaststampers. I set my flowers, from Create A Critter, up on the Gypsy to cut at 3 inches. I used papers from Stampin Up's Salebration.
I assembled the flowers, inked the edges and added some tiny paper flowers with brads in the center. The sentiments are from Stampin Up as is the ink and ribbon.

One random winner will be chosen on Wednesday, March 14th, giving you plenty of time to finish the hop.

I created a birthday card using the ctmh art philosophy cricut cartridge bundle. For the paper, I used my refections: dreamin' and solid chocolate.

I am using my Cricut Expression 2 Anniversary Edition for this project but, you could use any cricut or Imagine for this project.

I started with Page 60 and cut tag4 layer only...

5.25" and select the Aa button as shown below. This will make it precisely 5.25".

Page 60 cut gift box and layer in two sizes (2.25" and 3.25").

The coordinating stamp set can be used on the 2.25" cut.

For the sentiment, I cut page 56 shape4 and layer at 1.25"

Using the "Happy Birthday!" stamp in the bundle, I used versamark and heat embossed in black.

I chose my denim twine from the Twinery to further embellish the card.

All of this on a beautiful green card base.

One random winner will be chosen on Wednesday, March 14th, giving you plenty of time to finish the hop.

I decided to make some party favors.  So, I grabbed my gypsy and created a template on it to make some cute favors that would hold some chocolate coins.

It's a cute 3D favor that I tied with some colorful baker's twine.

The inspiration came from someone I follow on facebook that created a die.  Well, I decided to use my cricut cartridges.

I used primarily 3 Birds - Life's a party and I needed a diamond which I used George and Basic shapes.  You could probably use a basic shapes cartridge but, I like the wave at the ends of the favor.

When you take it off the matt, you are left with a bunch of triangles to repurpose later.

First, I score each side at the base of the triangles.

Then, rotate and score at the middle of each triangle.

Above it is all scored....easy peasy!

Now, glue the thin folded paper to the folded tab on the top.

These make some cute favors for school as well.

I printed the names using Microsoft word.  Then, using a heart shaped punch, I created a name tag.  A pop dot and some candy inside and a birthday favor is all ready to enjoy!
