Happy Birthday!

This week for the Sweetsassydiva design team we were given a sketch to follow for our design. I'm usually not very good following sketches but this one I really liked and had an idea right away....and then it changed.

I chose colors that reminded me of the beach. (I'm homesick for warmth.) I made the base a 4 1/2 x 6 1/4 card out of a light green cardstock. I then cut another rectangle out of "sandy" beige that was 4 1/4 x 6. On top of that I layered a "sky" blue strip. A small yellowish strip, and a green strip that can be my beach towel. I inked all of the edges in a blue to make them stand out just a bit. Using the cricut and my gypsy I cut out a scallop cicle at 3 1/4 in (gypsy wanderings) a 3 in circle (also gypsy wanderings) 2 rounded rectangles to form the tag one at 3 in the other at 2 3/4 (from george and basic shapes) a 1 1/2 in flower (paisley) and "leaves" which were paisleys at 1 in (also from paisley)
I inked the edges of the "sun" in orange and the flower in orange as well. I stamped the happy birthday and beach ball on the tag. I colored in the beach ball using le plume markers. I then stamped the umbrellas on the beach towel/ribbon strip and colored them in. I affixed them all into place and added a center self stick dot to the flower...and called it beachy!!
I hope that this finds you with a warm and sunny week ahead.

Don't Worry BEE Happy!

Hi my crafty friends, Brenda here from Friends Craftin' with Friends.  This week at Sweet Sassy Diva we were given this Mojo Monday sketch to use for our inspiration.

Mojo Monday Card sketch

So as always I started designing it on my Gypsy.

I got my card base and first layer on my card.

I chose my colors by my stamped image and my base paper.  I used all scraps except for my card base.  Here is my first layer papers laid out on my Cricut mat.  I used George and Basic Shapes for my rectangles and circle, and Elegant Edges for the scalloped circle.

Here I have the papers for layer two laid out.  I used Art Philosophy for the "flag" type banner and the flower.

My stamped image is a Close To My Heart stamped set called "Be Happy".  Such a cute set!  I stamped my image and then colored it in with my Spectrum Noire markers.  Assembled my flower and then my card.  Here is the finished card.

I hope that you find inspiration from our DT today as well as from sketches.  Sketches are a good way to get your mojo flowing once again.  Thanks for joining us this week at Sweet Sassy Diva.

Hello Dragon Fly!

Sketches are always a great way to get one's creative juices going. This week for the Sweet Sassy Design Team we were asked to use a card sketch from Moho Mondays.  Right away I got out my DCWV Chateau Lavendar Stack I got from one of my dear crafty friends for my birthday last month.  It is the most gorgeous paper and can be found at Joann's.  All the papers came from either this stack or the matching cardstock stack.  Don't you just love the colors?
The card was glued to a card base of cream cardstock which I inked with green ink on the edges. The green and cream stripe is also another page and I cut the V into the end.
Even the little tag was from one of the pages with the cute flowers.  I added ribbon, MS punch leaves, a shiny flower from my stash, hello stamp, 3 brads and a K and Company dragon fly from an embellishment kit.
The background fancy circle was cut from Paper Lace 2 page 23 with the shadow at 3.5 inches.
Here is the sketch we used.
Here is the inside.  I used some of the scraps from the front and another dragon fly from K and Company.
I left it blank so I could write on it when needed.
This picture shows that I lay my ribbon out and attach to back with ATG gun.  Next I added brads before attaching the entire thing to my card.  That way the brad backs and ribbon do not show.
I
I am looking forward to seeing what all the designers make with this wonderful sketch.
Happy Craftin!

Tweet, wonderful you!

Tina from tiggersscrapplace here with this weeks Mojo sketch challenge. I love their sketches for a jumping off spot when designing.

I started with the sketch and some scraps I had on my desk from a project i just completed as well as a stamp that is coming in June from CTMH. I stamped the background with some of the small flower stamps in 2nd generation stamping with Blush and Creme Brulee ink. I think it gave a beautiful soft effect perfect for some background paper. Next I cut the flower shape from my Art Philosophy cart and stamped in with a coordinating stamp. The scalloped square was made the same way. Added some bling and there you go a quick simple card with some fun techniques.

I hope you enjoyed it

It's all about fun!

This is Jen from 3 Cats and a Bug! This week we have a fun theme at Sweetsassydiva's, using a Mojo Monday Sketch! I can't wait to see what the rest of the design team comes up with for this sketch. I'm using this sketch to make a birthday card for my son's 21st birthday.
The tags was cut from Sentimentals, @ 3 and I used my white gel pen to add a border to the dark blue tag. The scalloped circle was cut from Easter 2010 @ 3. I used my Gypsy to hide the inside cuts on it. The banner was cut from Lovely Floral, @ 3. I used my Gypsy to hide the two slits in the banner and the circle part of the image. I used my white gel pen to add the border. I used Straight from the Nest to cut out the cupcake @ 2. I used Sweet Treats to cut out "21" @ 1.5 and added orange stickles to the flame.
Please stop by my blog, 3 Cats and a Bug and see what else I've been up to! Thanks for looking.

Geoffrey the Giraffe!

Hi ~ Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway with a Rain, Rain, Go Away card.

I used the giraffe from Create A Critter sized to 3.59 inches.  I took the umbrella from April Showers.  I grouped the layers and stretched them so the size is 2.40 width and 4.31 height.

I put scraps of papers on my mat and cut them out.

I used orange and brown twine to create a mane.  I put some adhesive on the back of the brown layer and cut small strips of twine.

I assembled the giraffe one layer at a time.  I added some stickles for the eyes, mouth and antenna thingies!

I added stickle raindrops to the card and a little twine bow to her head.  I used glossy accents on her spots. I think this card will be appropriate for a support or sympathy card.

Thanks for having me over today Sweet Sassy Diva!!
