Believe!

Hello my friends!  Brenda here and breast cancer awareness is our theme at Sweet Sassy Diva.  I really don't have a tutorial for you, but I do have one you can watch from someone else. lol  I saw this tutorial and thought was a great idea for using up some scraps.  We all have them right?!  Some of us more than we need.  Not mentioning any names or anything. lol  Ok it's me!!!  I swear I use my scraps all the time so why is it that they feel like they are mulitplying?  Anyway my card uses the Cricut cart Calligraphy for the heart.  I used my Gypsy and hide the outline line of the heart to get just the inside heart and then hide the inside line to get just the outside of the heart.  Kinda like my shadow because this didn't have a shadow. I also welded the support ribbon from Stand and Salute to the inside heart and just placed a pale pink piece of card stock behind the opening and using some clear crystal I outline my support ribbon.  My believe came from My Pink Stamper set of stamps. I also place 5 pearls on the left top and lower right sides of the card.  Of course I used all scraps for this card except for the base, but still have a ton of scraps left.  I just hand wrote the inside sentiment and used a Martha Steward punch for the heart border.  I think that about covers it.  You can see the tutorial on how to make the background design with paper scraps here.  Thanks for looking!

Manly Thank you!

I recently recieved the Cricut cartridge Artiste and decided to use it for a manly thank you card.

Recipe:

Cricut Cartridge Artiste
My Mind's Eye Totally Girl paper stack
Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration So Happy for You 123220
Stampin' Up! punches: Punch Word Window and Punch Modern Label
The Twinery twin in Honeydew
Stampin' Up! cardstock in whisper white and Regals Always Artichoke
Sheer white ribbon
Stampin' Up! journaling marker in black
Stampin' Up! brown ink
Pop dots
liquid adhesive

On page 75 of the Cricut Cartridge Artiste, I cut the Father's Day card at 4.25" using the green dotted paper from the My Mind's Eye Totally Girl paper stack.  I assemled the shirt and glued the two pieces together rather than using it as a card.

Using the Stampin' Up! journaling marker, I created faux stitches on the pocket.

I added a folded pocket square using a small piece of sheer white ribbon folded.  I adhered it with a pop dot to give it dimension and some liquid adhesive to give it more staying power.

The tie is the reverse of the paper stack which was a white.  If your paper stack was double sided, you could have a different pattern or quite easily cut it out on a different paper all together as it is a separate key.  Be sure to cut them out at 4.25" each as well.  They are programmed to cut out to the correct size as long as you select 4.25" on all the elements.

I cut a piece of 8.5" x 11" paper in half and scored it down the middle of both pieces.  This gives you the card base.

I cut the green 8.5" x 11" cardstock into 4 pieces with a little taken off two edges to give it a slight white border that will show around the card when glued to the card base.

To the green paper, I took one and wound it three times with the Honeydew twine from The Twinery.  I adhered it with a pop dot to keep it taught. Place pop dots around the bottom side of the green cardstock to give it dimension to the card.

The shirt was glued down with liquid adhesive.

Using the scraps from the shirt cuts, I used the So Happy for You stamps set and stamped 'thanks' in brown ink.  I punched it out using the Stampin' Up! punch 'Punch Word Window'.  I then, used the Punch Modern Label and used the reverse side of the paper to get the white.  Use the brown ink and a small sponge dauber or other small sponge to ink all the edges.  I glued the two pieces together with some liquid adhesive and with pop dots placed it on top of the twine.

Inside you can stamp a favorite sentiment but, in this case I just used it to write a personal thank you note.

I challenge you to make a manly thank you card as well.  Please share your creation on facebook.

Happy Fall Y'all!

Hi my crafty friends!  Fall is in the air and the trees are starting to turn their beautiful colors.  Oh how I love fall!  Sunny, cool days are just perfect for getting outside.  Nice crisp evening are perfect for sleeping, but the one thing I don't like-shorter days! lol  I love when it stays light out until 9:30/10pm but of course as fall draws near we lose that.  I will survive and it will make the longer days all the sweeter when they come back around.

Brenda here and this week at Sweet Sassy Diva our theme is fall!  I decided to design a card using my Gypsy and the basket from Doodlecharms.  I welded two of the together.  This is what it will look like once two are welded together:

I also layed out my layers to my basket on another layer in my Gypsy and I decided I would add a pumpkin to the mix and got it from the Freshly Picked cart.

After cutting out my basket layers I decided to run my basket layer through the Cuttlebug with an embossing fold like looks like wood from Stamping Up.  I cut my leaves out of scrap paper using My Creative Time dies and my sentiment is from her as well.  I used my Spectrum Noir Markers to color the leaf in my circle sentiment.  I inked my leaves and basket with Tim Holtz distress inks-Walnut and Vintage Photo.  Here is my finished card, I am pretty pleased with the way it came out although I would have welded my pumpkin to my base if I had thought about it first. lol I hope that you will have go at a shaped card for the fall!  Happy crafting!

Flat Back Treat Box!

Hi my crafty friends, Brenda here with our newest challenge at Sweet Sassy Diva.   For this week we are show casing projects that have to do with Autumn.  I have a cute little box that can be used for many things.  One being on the Thanksgiving table as name boxes.  My box is called a "Flat Back Treat Box" and it is adorable! You can find a video link here.  Here is how you are going to make it:

You want to start out with a 7 x 9 piece cardstock, color of your choice.

Then you are going to score on the 9" side at 1", 2", 3", 4" and 5".  Turn and score on the 7" side at 1/2", 3/4", 1 1/2", 5 1/2", 6 1/4", and 6 1/2".  Here what yours should look like:

Now that you have all your score marks, you will need to cut off everywhere there is black marker:

Your cardstock base should like just like mine now:

Are you with me so far??  Now you are ready to assemble and decorate in whatever way you wish.  I do have one thing that I'm not sure of though, so maybe you will be able to figure it out cause I can't seem to.  This little 1/4" score line, I have no clue why that is there-it is on both sides of the 7" side.  I haven't found any use for it in any way. I know it is going to be a reason so simple that I'm going to go "Duh Brenda!". lol  So if you figure it out would you please let me know.  It's really bugging me! lol

Here is what my finished project looks like and boy did I have a hard time photographing these papers!  Just put in whatever kind of treat you would like, it has to be something small though, like kisses or nuggets, etc.  Wouldn't these look so cute with Pilgrims on them and then the person's name on the box part sitting on your dinner plates at Thanksgiving?!!

I hope the design team of Sweet Sassy Diva has inspired you to get a little crafty!  Happy Crafting my friends!!!
